The Senior Vice President of Publicity for FX will serve as the lead publicity strategist for all original FX programming and for the FX brand, reporting directly to the leader of FX.
The SVP will oversee the day-to-day operations of the publicity department and creative services (which includes Talent Relations, Awards, Events, and Photo Publicity).
In this role, the SVP is responsible for strategic oversight of all consumer publicity campaigns for FX Original Series streamed exclusively on Hulu and Disney+ and also telecast on the FX and FXX cable channels. They will serve as the point contact for trade media journalists.
The SVP will also work closely with the Corporate Communications and global streaming content teams across Disney Entertainment Television, The Walt Disney Company, and Hulu and D+ domestically and globally on matters related to FX.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the FX leadership/entertainment team to create vision and strategy for all consumer publicity campaigns for FX Original Series distributed linearly and nonlinearly.
- Lead the development and execution of media relations campaigns across business, trade and consumer outlets.
- Develop communications strategies to promote the FX brand and its content.
- Foster strong collaboration and alignment between Publicity and Marketing departments to ensure strategic and logistical coordination in the creation and deployment of programming, awards and branding campaigns (including the development and maintenance of a joint campaign plan and calendar to leverage communications and talent for appearances, events, consumer activations, promotions, and social influencers/platforms).
- Work with other departments within FX as well as across The Walt Disney Company to share and disseminate information in addition to strategic planning for company initiatives.
- Manage the day-to-day organization and operation of media relations and the corporate communications function, serving as the primary point person for trade media.
- Provide strategic guidance and tactical assistance to executives to prepare them for media events, speeches, presentations and interviews.
- Oversee and partner with the SVP of Creative Services to set planning and strategy for Talent Relations, Events and Awards in service of FX Original programming.
- Work closely with the international publicity leads on strategic planning for campaigns.
- Manages external and internal communications strategies in support of the organization's strategic goals, including developing appropriate messaging and drafting/editing speeches for senior leadership.
- Manage and develop a team of publicity professionals to ensure their growth and collaboration on best practices.
- Determine department initiatives to create effective and efficient processes.
- Manage the department budget to ensure efficient use of resources.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in entertainment publicity with strong emphasis on consumer and trade press.
- Deep understanding of the television and streaming industry, including trends, challenges, and opportunities.
- Proven track record leading and managing successful communications strategies at a network, streaming service, studio or agency.
- Experience leading successful publicity campaigns for content (ideally, premium content) across a variety of consumer/viewer touchpoints.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, leadership, and communications skills to inspire and motivate others, with the ability to manage high-pressure situations and a myriad of personalities in the workplace is critical.
- Substantial experience managing/leading teams, developing strategy and executing plans.
- Extensive and established network of consumer and trade entertainment media contacts.
- Exceptionally strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
- Must be autonomous and decisive, able to oversee and manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, and/or related field, or equivalent work experience in communications or media relations.
Preferred:
- Experience working closely with Chairman and President level executives on difficult or challenging programming and communications related issues.

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $332,500 to $457,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
