About the job

Job Description: Film Crowdfunding & Audience Development Intern

Company: Baboon Animation

Department: Marketing & Digital Strategy

Location: Remote / New York, NY

Term: Seasonal (Spring, Summer, or Fall)

Summary

Baboon Animation is seeking a strategic and digitally-savvy Film Crowdfunding Intern to join our production team. As the landscape of independent film shifts toward direct-to-consumer financing, this role is critical in bridging the gap between high-concept animation and community-backed funding. The intern will get hands-on learning experience in the architectural design, launch, and management of crowdfunding campaigns (Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Seed&Spark) for upcoming animated series and feature film projects.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Campaign Strategy & Architecture: Assist in the structural design of crowdfunding campaigns, including goal setting, timeline mapping, and the development of a tiered "Rewards and Incentives" matrix.
  • Copywriting & Content Narrative: Draft compelling campaign copy that translates the artistic vision of the directors into a persuasive call-to-action for potential backers.
  • Community Management: Act as a primary point of contact for the donor community; manage FAQs, engage with backers in comment sections, and maintain momentum through regular project updates.
  • Backer Research & Outreach: Identify and map "super-fan" communities, niche animation forums, and influencer networks to expand the campaign’s reach beyond organic audiences.
  • Data Analytics & Reporting: Track daily conversion rates, traffic sources, and contribution trends to provide weekly performance reports to the executive team.
  • Fulfillment Planning: Collaborate with the production team to logistics-plan the delivery of physical and digital rewards, ensuring budget adherence and brand consistency.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or Film/Media Studies.
  • Digital Literacy: High proficiency in social media ecosystems (TikTok, Instagram, X/Twitter) and an understanding of how to leverage these platforms for conversion.
  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional storytelling ability and a professional tone in written correspondence.
  • Project Management: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and "live" campaign variables in a fast-paced environment.
  • Visual Awareness: Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) to assist in creating social assets for the campaign is a significant plus.

Operational Details

  • Compensation: College Credit
  • Hours: 16–40 hours per week.

Application Process

Interested candidates should submit a resume and a brief portfolio or writing sample. In your cover letter, please mention one successful crowdfunding campaign you followed and why you believe it resonated with its audience.
