HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT

As the SVP, Marketing and Communications, you will lead the global marketing and communications strategy for USGBC and GBCI, driving brand, demand generation, and market transformation at scale. You will shape how our products, programs, and mission are positioned globally accelerating adoption of green building solutions and advancing organizational growth.

Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, you will lead a global, cross-functional marketing organization and partner closely with executive leadership and teams responsible for product development, delivery and sales to align marketing strategies with business and mission outcomes. Key Responsibilities* Lead and execute a comprehensive global marketing and communications strategy aligned to organizational priorities and growth goals

  • Develop and implement annual marketing plans with campaign-driven approaches in partnership with Product, Growth, and regional teams
  • Oversee global brand strategy and positioning across organizational and product portfolios to strengthen awareness, differentiation, and market impact
  • Build and scale a high-performing global marketing and communications team (12+), fostering a collaborative, data-driven, and innovative culture
  • Establish performance metrics, analytics, and reporting frameworks to evaluate effectiveness and inform future strategy
  • Drive demand generation, lead acquisition, and multi-channel campaign execution to support revenue and adoption goals
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Technology, Finance, Market Development, and Customer Experience teams to align strategies and execution
  • Build and lead a strong product marketing function to support product launches, lifecycle marketing, and global adoption
  • Develop and execute global public relations, media, and communications strategies to increase visibility and stakeholder engagement
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive leadership on brand, communications, and reputation management, including crisis communications
  • Cultivate and manage external partnerships with agencies, vendors, media, and influencers to amplify reach and impact
  • Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies (including AI) to continuously evolve marketing strategies Assessment Notice* Candidates who advance in the interview process will be required to complete an assessment. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive marketing and communications leadership experience, including global team leadership
  • Proven success developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that drive growth, brand awareness, and customer engagement
  • Experience in sustainability, real estate, built environment, or mission-driven organizations preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational transformation and building high-performing teams Education* Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or related field required
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred Technology/System(s)* CRM and marketing automation platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo)
  • Web analytics and performance tools (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Experience leveraging AI tools for marketing optimization preferred Skills* Strategic leadership and executive presence
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities
  • Expertise in brand strategy, communications, and storytelling
  • Cross-functional leadership and stakeholder influence
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Salary Final compensation and benefits will be confirmed at the time of offer and may vary based on factors such as internal equity, relevant experience, qualifications, and employment status. Location: This position is hybrid in Washington, D.C. and will be required to work in the office 2 to 3 times per week.
