As part of the Microsoft Communications team, you will join a group of professionals focused on telling the stories that help people fall in love with Microsoft, the things we make, and the impact we have in the world – using the incredible potential of artificial intelligence. You’ll be part of a team that sits at the center of how Communications evolves—helping shape culture, accelerate AI driven transformation, and design modern experiences that build trust and influence with employees, media and influencers, and customers.
The Comms Community and Experiences team is a cross‑functional, multi‑disciplinary group that enables the Communications organization by building strong community, advancing AI‑driven communications capabilities, facilitating broad news planning and prioritization, and delivering influencer events and experiences that shape company narratives and relationships.
We are seeking a Communications Manager to join this team and help scale our community efforts, AI-enabled frontier communications, and influencer experiences as we continue to modernize how Communications operates and shows up externally. Supporting and evolving these three critical functions through a unified strategy, this role will serve as the connective tissue between how we build an AI-enabled world-class communications organization and how we show up to the world through events and experiences.
This person will work closely with the Corporate Communications and Technical Strategy team, Office of the Chief Communications Officer, extended Communications group and agency partners to ensure we remain at the leading edge of our craft while strengthening Microsoft’s narrative through key external experiences. You’ll be part of a team that sits at the center of how Communications evolves—helping shape culture, accelerate AI driven transformation, and design modern experiences that build trust and influence with employees, media and influencers, and customers.

Responsibilities Community, Learning, and Development
- Create and execute Comms Group community touchpoints and skilling initiatives that drive business rhythms, foster connection, knowledge sharing, and culture across the extended Communications team.
- Curate, maintain, and evolve business content and learning resources within our central content hubs.
- Facilitate and help grow the Communications Group Culture in partnership with Community Groups, business managers and culture leaders.
- Support new and evolved learning and development initiatives, including AI skilling programs, career development tracks
Frontier Communications & AI Enablement
- Partner with the Corporate Communications and Tech Strategy team to roll out new tools, workflows, and AI trainings across Communications.
- Support efforts to build AI habits, confidence, and capability across the organization.
Customer & Influencer Engagement
- Design and support a customer speaker engagement program in close partnership with the Corporate Communications and Tech Strategy team, including building speaker assets, training materials and a bench of Communicators who can share our story of reimagining Comms with AI with external audiences.
- Partner with teammates to plan and execute influencer experiences and events that reinforce Microsoft’s strategic positioning and maintain relationships with key influencers.
- Pilot and deliver new events and experiences that evangelize tools and demonstrate thought leadership across the technology industry and communications discipline.
Cross-team collaboration and operational excellence
- Work cross-functionally with marketing, product communications, and regional teams to identify opportunities for community and experiential programs that amplify Microsoft's communications priorities.
- Collaborate with agency and supplier partners to ensure seamless execution of programs and events while maintaining alignment with procurement, compliance, and brand standards.
- Champion diversity and inclusion across all community and event programming, ensuring diverse voices, perspectives, and audiences are represented.
- Track and report on the impact of community and experience programs using data and insights to inform future strategy and demonstrate value.

Qualifications Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 2+ years communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, project management, or related experience
- OR equivalent experience.

- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience planning and executing communications programs at scale—including events, community initiatives, learning or skilling programs, or integrated campaigns—in a corporate or agency environment, with demonstrated success leading cross‑functional workstreams.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives, translate complex or technical concepts, and engage a wide range of audiences, from internal stakeholders to external media and influencers.
- Solid understanding of the Communications discipline and evolving media and influencer landscape, including familiarity with internal and external communications workflows, content creation, and narrative development.
- Experience supporting events, influencer programs, and/or executive‑level engagements, and/or designing and managing learning, skilling, or talent development initiatives.
- Demonstrated project management capability, including the ability to operate in ambiguity, manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with AI and cloud technologies, including applying new tools, workflows, or AI‑enabled practices in a communications, marketing, or programmatic context; experience working with agencies, vendors, and cross‑functional partners in a matrixed organization is a plus.

Communications IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,100 - $169,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $112,000 - $185,300 per year.
