Social Media Specialist - Grand Rapids, MI

About the Role

We’re looking for a creative and motivated Social Media Specialist with 1–2 years of experience in consumer product goods to help grow our brand’s social presence. This role is ideal for someone who loves content creation, follows social trends, and enjoys engaging with online communities. You will develop, implement and manage the company’s social media strategy to increase brand awareness, drive engagement and build an online community. This position creates postings, interacts with followers and analyzes metrics to drive significant online community for company. The role will also be working with agency and internal support teams.

What You’ll Do

Content Creation & Publishing

  • Execute monthly social media content calendars aligned with marketing campaigns and business goals
  • Write captions and create engaging posts (graphics, carousels, Reels, TikToks)
  • Collaborate with marketing services teams for needed campaign assets
  • Schedule and publish content across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Pinterest
  • Ensure brand voice and visual consistency

Community Management

  • Monitor comments, DMs, and mentions daily
  • Respond to followers in a timely, brand-appropriate tone
  • Escalate customer service issues as needed
  • Monitor consumer comments on e-comm platforms where company products are sold. Forward customer issues to appropriate owner.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track engagement, reach, and follower growth
  • Support weekly/monthly performance reporting
  • Identify top-performing content and trends

Campaign & Influencer Support

  • Identify campaigns to support product launches, new distribution and licensed campaigns
  • Manage giveaways and contests
  • Support influencer outreach and content coordination

Trend Monitoring

  • Stay current on platform updates, trends, and viral content
  • Bring new content ideas to the team
  • Monitor competitor activity
  • Recommend new, emerging social platforms that could benefit the company

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1–2 years of social media experience (internships included)
  • Strong copywriting and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest
  • Experience with scheduling tools (Later)
  • Basic design skills (Canva or Adobe Creative Suite)

Preferred

  • Short-form video creation/editing experience
  • Influencer marketing exposure
  • Paid social knowledge
  • Proven record at driving brand awareness and engagement via social channels
  • Experience in consumer products industry
  • Experience working with Social Media management tools (Hootsuite, Sprout, Sprinklr)
