Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Creative Services, the Manager, Copywriting will lead a team of copywriters and copyeditors in the execution of creative concepts and ultimately be responsible for the delivery of the written expression of the Creative Services Team s project work across multiple marketing and communication channels included, but not limited to, print, video and animation, radio, email, web and social media. This work requires a creative, conceptual, and strategic thinker who is experienced and confident tackling a brief from beginning to end, devising innovative and inspiring creative to solve business needs and deliver rich customer experiences. The role will insist on the highest creative standards and lead creative across all platforms. In addition to possessing top-shelf verbal skills, a growth mindset and a visionary outlook, the right candidate has a proven track record of delivering on multiple projects in a fast-moving and complex environment, excellent organizational and management skills, and the ability to mentor, motivate, and collaborate with colleagues across multiple teams.
What You'll Do
- Provide leadership for a team of 3-5 staff and 3-5 contractors. Take an active role in developing staff to remain continuously relevant in the industry — including employee training and mentorship, employee engagement, and performance management.
- Manage resourcing needs for the team in a complex, fast-moving environment with rapidly evolving and changing priorities.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional teams spanning creative, communications, marketing and research groups in the development of engaging and memorable concepts, copy and end-to-end marketing campaigns aimed at prospects, customers and influencers. While aligning with our brand personality, voice and tone.
- Carefully review department work for grammar, spelling, punctuation, proper syntax and semantics of own copy and of that generated by others.
- Collaborate with creative partners to develop clear and compelling conceptual solutions—based on a deep understanding of our products, services and target audience—that drive business success.
- Be a creative ambassador, who leads by example and fosters a culture of creative thinking and innovation with internal teams and business partners – ultimately setting professional creative standards for the entire team. Push the boundaries of creative excellence, ensuring the highest quality storytelling across various mediums targeting internal and external audiences.
- Collaborate within Creative Services to determine best practices, benchmarks, and project workflows.
- Build relationships with stakeholders and promote awareness and collaboration between Marketing, Analytics, Content Strategy, Vehicle Delivery and Customer Experience teams.
- Ensure that creative scope is aligned with in-market dates and project budgets.
- Assist the project team overall in solving difficult creative challenges, overcoming obstacles, and proactively identify and resolve team issues.
- Articulate and defend strategic thinking and creative direction, to audiences of varying levels, size, and backgrounds, including to team members or senior leadership teams.
- Dive deeply into the customer experience and market strategies to identify and activate meaningful insights; and communicate those insights effectively along with proposed creative actions and remedies.
- Lead creative process integration and collaboration between multiple teams.
- On-board new in-house writers and freelancers.

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.Experience
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 11 years may be considered.
Additional Requirements and Qualifications
- Work experience as an Associate Creative Director or Senior Copywriter is preferred.
- Self-aware leader and team player with the ability to positively influence change through inspiration, solid rationale, supporting data, and diplomacy.
- Strong detail orientation to ensure quality, consistency and alignment.
- Mastery in written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to: write clearly, succinctly and correctly; write convincingly in an engaging and expressive manner; avoid unnecessary use of jargon or complicated language and; write in a well-structured and logical way.
- Proven ability to take initiative and use expertise in combination with strategic perspective to inspire others and produce workable solutions to complex problems.
- Demonstrated ability to establish clear priorities, smart sequencing/timing while balancing near-term and longer-term goals/needs and to monitor results adjusting tactics as necessary.
- Strong team leadership and development skills with the demonstrated ability to lead a team with a large volume of work of high complexity, and to allocate resources effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at one time to meet aggressive deadlines.
- Ability to work through escalations and difficult situations independently.
- Must be familiar with project management tools and processes.
- Previous experience with direct reports preferred. Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
