JOB DESCRIPTION: DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all of the company’s marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. This position will provide innovative strategic and creative leadership to guide all aspects of conceptualizing, image creation, copywriting, design direction and production/execution. This role balances high-level executive collaboration with a hands-on approach to delivering exceptional work for high-profile and complex creative challenges.
CORE AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
TASKS:
- Empower and lead a cross-functional marketing team, providing the strategic direction and professional mentorship necessary to achieve high-impact brand goals
- Develops and implements strategic marketing plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives for products and services
- Supports content and execution of annual Garland International Sales Conference and regional sales meetings throughout the year
- Develops marketing strategies for new products or services that comply with current company standards
- Manages resource planning, departmental budgets, and allocations to ensure achievement of objectives within designated financial limits
- Develops and recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share
- Monitors market trends and competitor activities to refine strategy and maintain a competitive edge
- Manages PR initiatives, brand communications, media relations, and social media execution, including influencer and ambassador programs
- Monitors competitor products, sales and marketing activities
- Collaborates with other executives to make high-level decisions regarding the budget and the direction of the company
- Oversees all aspects of web design and development, and manage the creation of all marketing collateral, ensuring a cohesive, top-notch brand experience
- Conducts market and brand awareness studies while leveraging analytics to define and measure the success of marketing initiatives
- Manages relationships with external resources, including photographers, printers, freelancers, and web developers
- Builds a culture of enthusiasm and cooperation within the creative group to drive high employee engagement and retention
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Must possess 10+ years of marketing experience with a concentration in a manufacturing and/or construction environment preferred. Previous managerial experience is required. Possession of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or a related field is required with a Masters’ degree preferred. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered. Must have a strong creative and artistic vision. Skills required in Adobe Creative Cloud include Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Audition. Knowledge in InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat along with proficiency in Microsoft Office a plus. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear). Driving is a requirement for this position. Must have the ability to think creatively, multi-task, work independently and also cooperatively as a team member. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and ability to create on a short deadline. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to travel both domestically and internationally, so the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle and maintain a driver’s license are required. Must have a vehicle in good working condition and ensure it meets all safety, insurance, and legal requirements. Overnight domestic and international travel required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the customers, account representatives, company representatives, management, staff, and the public in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to use a telephone for communication. Maintaining regular predictable and punctual attendance at assigned job locations is essential. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Must have the ability to lift up to 30lbs. Use office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and facsimile machines. Ability to communicate in writing in a clear, concise and effective manner. Sit, stand, kneel, crouch, bend, stoop, turn, pivot and/or walk for extended time periods. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Ability to accurately distinguish color variation. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Comfortable with heights, being on building rooftops. Ability to climb stairs, ladders and roof hatch. Ability to climb, traverse and maneuver across different roof levels while adhering to fall protection requirements as necessary. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Tolerate inclement weather, including heat and cold. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/ construction chemicals and solvents. Must have the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle, maintain a valid state motor vehicle driver license, and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record. Overnight travel may be required.
