Purpose: The Associate Director, Marketing Analytics, will leverage in-depth expertise in content performance measurement and marketing analytics to support major brands across the J&J Innovative Medicine. This individual will collaborate closely with the Strategic Insights and Analytics team and Brand leaders to develop and implement a comprehensive content analytics framework. The role will focus on identifying and tracking key leading and lagging metrics, enabling data-driven decisions, providing actionable insights on the effectiveness of content and channel strategies, and optimizing investments throughout the customer and patient journey. The Associate Director will report to the Director, Customer Engagement & Media Measurement.

This leader will also work closely to the AI Product team to leverage AI capabilities to direct faster insight generation and business decision making.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Establish approach to content measurement inclusive of defining data collection, vendor sourcing (if required) and joining leading/lagging metrics
  • Own measurement approach for key launches and campaigns (HCP and DTC), including hypotheses, KPIs, and success criteria.
  • Evaluate asset performance by message, format, and channel; identify drivers of performance and optimization opportunities.
  • Assess creative effectiveness across audience segments and journeys (e.g., disease state, treatment stage, specialty, micro-segments).
  • Integrate signals across paid media, owned properties, CRM, and campaign platforms to provide a holistic creative view.
  • Apply attribution, experimentation, and advanced analytics to link creative and messaging to downstream outcomes.
  • Inform creative rotation, personalization rules, and audience targeting with Media/Omnichannel partners.
  • Embed framework within operational and strategic discussions at all levels of the business as standard method to understand and evaluate performance and use the insights to make business decisions to optimize execution.
  • Be a strategic thought partner to Brand, Marketing, and Omnichannel leaders on creative effectiveness strategy.
  • Guide agencies and vendors on measurement best practices, tagging/taxonomy needs, and reporting expectations.
  • Work closely with media agencies and appropriate external partners to develop, deliver, and enhance recurring reporting dashboards and performance scorecards. Align organizations to new standard owned by J&J.
  • Deliver clear, compelling narratives to senior stakeholders—what happened, why, and what we should do next.
  • Act as a key advocate for data integrity proactively identifying and solutioning data issues and gaps.
  • Partner with media agencies, AOR, and internal data management teams to ensure accurate, timely, and complete data flows for reporting and analytics.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Education:

  • B.S. required; MS/MBA/PhD preferred.

Required:

  • 8+ years of marketing or media experience in a professional setting
  • Expertise in creative measurement, designing frameworks to assess message, format, and asset effectiveness beyond channel metrics

Preferred:

  • Skilled in omnichannel analytics, connecting paid, owned, and CRM performance for a holistic view
  • Insightful and action-oriented, recommending and implementing improvements based on data
  • Strong data storytelling abilities with executive-level communication and visuals
  • Collaborative approach, aligning stakeholders across Brand, Media, Omnichannel, Legal/Regulatory, and agencies
  • Proficient with media and digital performance data, creative metadata, measurement platforms, tagging/taxonomy, and content technologies (Adobe, Veeva, Figma)
  • Broad pharmaceutical industry knowledge, especially healthcare claims data for marketing optimization
  • Experience with creative measurement, market research, media analytics, HCP data, and digital media
  • Skilled in data-driven media planning and buying
  • Proficient in Marketing Mix Modeling, econometric techniques, and Analytics/Martech/BI software
  • Strong financial and business acumen, strategic thinking, conflict management, interpersonal skills, change management, delegation, talent coaching, negotiation, and influence
  • Ability to translate insights into actionable executive recommendations
  • Experience partnering with agencies, tech firms, and consultants in advertising and martech
  • Proven collaborative skills across teams; adept at working in matrixed environments
  • Excellent communication, able to convey complex ideas to diverse groups
  • Creative, innovative problem solver leveraging data-driven insights
  • Executive presence, effective influencer, and driver of alignment across all organizational levels
  • Capable of leading cross-functional projects, identifying risks, and enabling team success
