About the Position

The Grocery Ecommerce Merchandising Manager orchestrates the digital shopping experience, including website search and app navigation, content development, product merchandising, promotion, and assortment curation. The key performance metrics for this position are increasing Average Order Value(AOV), customer frequency / delivery rate, app engagement and retention to achieve the company’s revenue and gross margin expectations.

The position reports to the Chief Growth Officer and works in close collaboration with the Category Director, Senior Marketing Manager and the IT Director.

Core Responsibilities

Sales & Merchandising Management

  • Develop the ecommerce strategy that drives revenue through a combination of recurring revenue and impulse revenue.
  • Develop and execute a category strategy that drives growth across both established and emerging categories.
  • Drive sales in high-potential categories, key launches, margin-accretive items, and under-penetrated segments.
  • Digital Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive digital marketing strategies to increase customer engagement and more active use of the service.
  • Leverage deep analytics and customer insights to optimize pricing, promotions, and assortment.
  • Ensuring onsite content remains accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with broader merchandising and marketing priorities.
  • Direct all existing onsite merchandising placements (e.g., banners, Trending Now), including creative direction, briefing and asset requests, scheduling, accuracy checks, and performance reporting, ensuring these high-volume surfaces remain effective.
  • Build and execute the seasonal merchandising calendar, aligning storytelling, product curation, and onsite priorities to seasonal trends and member demand (e.g., NA reset in January, Pumpkin in Fall).
  • Own sitewide merchandising updates during major promotional periods (e.g., Holiday), ensuring placements are fully optimized, flawlessly executed, and continuously iterated to enhance the member experience.

App and Website Management

  • Customer Path to Purchase Optimization: Optimize the customer journey and identify opportunities to enhance the user experience in the app and website, from discovery to purchase.
  • Be the Business lead to IT to enhance the shopping experience primarily on the app and website.
  • Develop requirements and use cases for new service features.
  • Conduct regular end-to-end site audits to identify friction in product discovery, inconsistent or outdated merchandising, and missed selling opportunities.
  • Partner with IT to develop new merchandising formats (modules, carousels, etc.) that enhance product discoverability and expand brand visibility opportunities.
  • Recommend, and partner closely with IT to execute adjustments to product placement, navigation, and content blocks to surface priority items and categories.
  • Collaborate with IT to conduct A/B testing of new features.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve tooling, tracking, and insights to drive smarter placement decisions and strengthen brand partner value.

Team and Organizational Leadership

  • Set a culture of accountability, analytical rigor, and bias for action.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-caliber team
  • Collaborate across SBF’s organization, including Purchasing, IT, Distribution, Marketing, —to deliver integrated, cross-functional business outcomes to ensure flawless execution across the customer journey.
  • 8+ years of progressive business experience in ecommerce merchandising or digital catalog management. Deep functional expertise in category management, merchandising, pricing, and brand development.
  • 5+ years of people leadership, with experience developing and scaling high-performing teams.
  • Proven track record owning onsite placements, optimizing product discoverability, and driving commercial impact through merchandising.
  • Proven hands-on experience and success growing sales with Klaviyo.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen; highly fluent in forecasting, pricing, and performance management.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product and Engineering teams to influence tooling, build new onsite features, and execute site updates with precision.
  • Strategic thinker who operates effectively at both 10,000 feet and ground level—comfortable balancing vision with detail.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and translate insights into actionable merchandising decisions.
  • Proven ability to work highly cross-functionally, aligning Creative, Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams around shared merchandising goals.
  • Comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a high degree of ownership and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communicator and influencer across senior executive and cross-functional teams.
