JOB SUMMARY

The Social Media Manager plays a key role in bringing our mission to life by developing and executing Navy Pier’s social media strategy to drive engagement, awareness, and loyalty. This position manages the Pier’s social presence across multiple platforms, including content planning, publishing, community engagement, and performance tracking. It also supports the creation of photo and short-form video content when needed to enhance campaigns and event coverage. The position collaborates with internal departments and external partners to ensure all social media initiatives align with Navy Pier’s brand voice, strategic objectives, and high-quality standards while centralizing assets, providing insights, and fostering consistent messaging across digital channels.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to successfully perform this job. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, implement, and manage social media strategies across Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube, including planning and publishing content in alignment with the overall marketing calendar.
  • Manage and engage Navy Pier’s social media communities, responding to comments, messages, and fostering positive interactions.
  • Ensure all social media content for events, promotions, and campaigns reflect Navy Pier’s brand standards, including visuals, messaging, influencer partnerships, and paid social.
  • Utilize social media automation and analytics tools to streamline posting, track engagement, and provide data-driven insights.
  • Track and report on social media performance, providing insights and recommendations to improve engagement, reach, and content effectiveness.
  • Monitor trends, platform updates, and competitor activity to recommend innovative social strategies.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external agencies to centralize and share assets.
  • Attend on-site events as needed to capture high-quality content or support live social media coverage.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing social media for a brand or organization, including content planning, publishing, community engagement, and performance tracking.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing storytelling across social platforms, including video and photo.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently in fast-paced, high-energy environments.
  • Familiarity with social media tools for posting, scheduling, and analytics (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Sprout Social), as well as basic knowledge of SEO, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Lightroom, Photoshop), CapCut, Final Cut Pro, Canva, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must work on-site at Navy Pier and able to work extended hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Maintains professionalism and a positive attitude, serving as an ambassador for Navy Pier and representing its mission and values both in and out of the workplace.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Film Production, or a related field preferred.
