Social Media Manager (On-Site) — Chicago

Zeitlin's Delicatessen is looking for a Social Media Manager to own our content strategy and execution — on the ground, inside a fast-paced Jewish deli environment.

This is not a desk-only role. You'll be partly on site, reacting to real moments, working closely with a kitchen and front-of-house team, and driving the narrative of one of Chicago's most distinctive — and fast-growing — delis.

This role is a mix of:

  • Strategy + planning (content calendar, campaigns, promotions)
  • In-the-moment execution — captured live on site
  • Community management and audience growth
  • Reporting and team collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Own the content calendar end-to-end — planning, execution, publishing
  • Be on site 2–3 days per week (Sundays are key)
  • Capture, edit, and publish short-form video (Reels / TikTok) independently
  • Manage influencer outreach and coordinate collaborations
  • Monitor, respond to, and grow engagement across Instagram and TikTok
  • Maintain a clean, current Instagram grid (including removing outdated promos)
  • Brief and coordinate with our design/production team on assets when needed
  • Lead content capture at farmers markets (at least once/month)
  • Report on performance and adjust strategy accordingly
  • Work directly with the Marketing Manager and Founder

What we're looking for

  • Someone who takes ownership — you don't wait to be told what to create
  • Experience managing social media for a brand, restaurant, or food business (your own clients count)
  • Strong eye for authentic, real, in-the-moment content — not over-produced
  • Comfortable executing under pressure during busy service hours
  • Organized, deadline-oriented, and reliable
  • Confident shooting and editing short-form video on your phone
  • Able to shift between planned content and reactive moments without losing the thread
  • Based in Chicago with reliable transportation
  • Familiarity with Jewish food / deli culture is a plus, not a requirement

Details

  • Part-time: 12–15 hours/week
  • Hourly rate: $30
  • Hybrid. Partially on-site role/home office (not remote)
  • Trial period to start — with room to grow as the brand scales

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12.0 – 15.0 per week
