Reports to: Executive Director/CEO

The Marketing & Communications Manager leads the development and execution of strategic marketing and communication initiatives that elevate visibility, strengthen community engagement, and advance the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County. This role is responsible for driving compelling, mission-centered storytelling and ensuring consistent, accessible messaging across all platforms.

The Manager plays a critical role in connecting the organization’s work to diverse audiences—including prospective homeowners, volunteers, donors, partners, and shoppers—while directly supporting ReStore retail operations through targeted campaigns that increase sales, foot traffic, and public awareness.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Strategic Marketing & Brand Management

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Maintain and strengthen Habitat Forsyth’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all messaging, visuals, and platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to expand audience reach and deepen community engagement.

Mission-Based Storytelling & Content Development

  • Lead the creation of compelling stories that highlight the impact of Habitat’s work, including homeowners, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
  • Oversee content development across multiple channels, including website, social media, email marketing, print materials, and reports.
  • Ensure messaging is inclusive, accessible, and reflective of the communities served.

ReStore Marketing & Retail Support

  • Partner with ReStore leadership to develop and execute marketing campaigns that drive sales, increase store traffic, and enhance brand awareness.
  • Connect ReStore operations to Habitat’s mission through storytelling and promotional efforts.
  • Support special sales events, promotions, and seasonal campaigns.

Digital Marketing & Audience Growth

  • Manage and grow Habitat Forsyth’s digital presence, including social media platforms, website content, and email campaigns.
  • Analyze performance metrics and adjust strategies to improve engagement, reach, and conversion.
  • Optimize digital campaigns to attract and retain supporters, volunteers, and program participants.

Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Develop targeted outreach strategies to engage prospective homeowners, volunteers, donors, and partners.
  • Support program teams in promoting workshops, events, and initiatives.
  • Strengthen relationships with community stakeholders through strategic communication efforts.

Media Relations & Public Relations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and press opportunities.
  • Develop press releases, media pitches, and public statements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local media outlets and community influencers.

Creative Direction & Project Management

  • Oversee the development of marketing materials, ensuring high-quality design and messaging.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining timelines and deliverables.
  • Collaborate across departments to align messaging and communication efforts.
  • Use performance data and digital analytics to track engagement, measure ROI, and inform ongoing marketing strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or related roles.
  • Strong storytelling, writing, and editing skills with the ability to translate mission-driven work into compelling content.
  • Experience managing digital platforms, including social media, email marketing tools, and website content management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic marketing plans.
  • Experience with retail marketing, nonprofit communications, or community engagement preferred.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, web management, analytics, and paid media.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and external creative teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative leadership style with excellent interpersonal and project management skills.

Requirements:

Requirements

  • Experience in digital marketing platforms including Constant Contact, WordPress, and social media.
  • Advanced competency of computers and software in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop) and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Teams) required.
  • Possess a good understanding of digital marketing techniques.
  • Core understanding of analytics and how to use data to drive content and campaign decisions.
  • Ability to bring brand stories to life in the social space.
  • Experience with photography and video production a plus but not required.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, logically, orally, and in writing.
  • Ability to relate well to diverse populations - age, race, class, gender, and creed - while maintaining confidentiality as required.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
