Cold Case Ice Cream is a bold category disruptor fusing provocative ingredients, rotating flavor drops, and true crime-inspired storytelling into an ice cream brand that earns its place in your freezer and on your social feed. Think Liquid Death meets Crumbl, frozen solid.
We're a fast-moving startup with national retail distribution, a growing DTC channel, corporate gifting, food truck operations, and a viral marketing DNA built by a team with $500M+ in attributable revenue across 100+ brand launches. We're scaling fast and we need a marketing leader who can grow with us.
THE MISSION
As VP of Marketing, you will be a core member of the executive team — setting strategy, building systems, and leading execution across every marketing channel Cold Case operates in. This is not a coordinator role. You will own the brand voice, drive revenue through retail, DTC, and B2B channels, and build the marketing function from the ground up as we scale to $100M+.
You will sit in our Orem, UT headquarters alongside the CEO and executive team, working in the fast, hands-on environment that defines Cold Case. This role requires someone who is equally comfortable in a boardroom strategy session and in the trenches building a campaign.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Brand Leadership: Lead brand strategy, positioning, and voice across all channels — maintaining the cold, bold, unapologetic identity of Cold Case Ice Cream.
• Retail Marketing: Own retail marketing execution — regional and national marketing sell-through strategy, new item presentations, trade spend strategy, in-store activation, shopper marketing, and category management for all retail partners.
• Campaign & Content Strategy: Develop traditional and regional campaigns, flavor launch strategies, seasonal and limited-edition drops that generate urgency, earned media, and viral momentum.
• Budget & Performance: Manage marketing budget with clear ROI accountability across channels. Know what's working and cut what isn't — fast.
• Team Building: Build and lead a high-performance marketing team, including agencies, contractors, and future full-time hires.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with CEO, Sales, and Operations on go-to-market strategy, product launches, and retailer sell-in presentations.
• Analytics & Reporting: Leverage data — from retail velocity reports, DTC analytics, and social metrics — to inform strategy and demonstrate marketing's contribution to revenue.
• DTC Growth: Drive direct-to-consumer growth through email, social, influencer, paid digital, and the Cold Case website — with a relentless focus on conversion, retention, and LTV.
• B2B Marketing: Develop and execute B2B marketing strategy targeting corporate gifting, foodservice, and licensing/co-branding partnerships.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Non-Negotiables:
• 8+ years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role
• Proven track record in retail marketing — CPG, food & beverage preferred — with demonstrated success driving velocity at major retail accounts
• Direct DTC marketing experience: you have built audiences, driven conversions, and grown online revenue
• B2B marketing experience: you know how to reach and influence buyers, distributors, and business partners
• Ability to work on-site, full-time at our Orem, UT headquarters — this is not a remote role
• Executive-level communication and presence — you will represent Cold Case in buyer meetings, media opportunities, and investor conversations
• Strategic thinker AND hands-on executor — at this stage of growth, you do both
Bonus Points:
• Experience in premium or better-for-you CPG, ice cream, frozen food, or a similarly competitive shelf set
• Track record building viral or culturally relevant consumer brands
• Experience managing broker/distributor relationships and trade spend
• Strong network in food & beverage retail buying, media, or influencer marketing
• Familiarity with UNFI, Kroger, Target, Sam's Club, or similar retail partner marketing requirements
