Scott Family Amazeum Overview

The Scott Family Amazeum is a hands-on, interactive museum in Northwest Arkansas and recognized as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. We create a fun environment where risk taking, imagining, problem solving, discovery, collaboration, and exploration bring children and adults together to learn and grow.

Core Purpose: The Amazeum exists to spark and nurture the curious and creative spirit in all of us.

Through experiences with the Amazeum, individuals and the community are engaged in building relationships and developing identities as creative, curious, and innovative shapers for the region. Learning at the Amazeum is an active, playful exploration that inspires curiosity. It is rooted in inquiry-based discovery and involves an element of risk. Hands-on learning opportunities allow guests to exercise critical thinking in the context of play.

The Amazeum facility includes approximately 50,000 square feet of indoor space and one acre of outdoor exhibition and activity space. The museum is located at the intersection of Museum Way and J Street in Bentonville, AR.

Position Summary

The Scott Family Amazeum seeks a creative and organized Content Coordinator who enjoys developing engaging digital content that connects families and the community to the museum’s Core Purpose. This role supports the museum’s marketing and communications efforts through storytelling, social media management, and website content updates.

Working under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications, the Content Coordinator develops and coordinates content across the Amazeum’s digital platforms, including social media, blog posts, email communications, and website updates. The role collaborates with teams across the museum to gather stories, program highlights, and updates that help bring the Amazeum experience to life. The ideal candidate will be able to engage through creative storytelling and share that through multi-channel marketing strategy.

The position also manages routine website edits through the museum’s Content Management System (CMS) to ensure content remains accurate and timely. Technical website development and coding are managed by external partners.

Essential Functions

Content Development

  • Develop engaging digital content that highlights the Amazeum’s programs, exhibits, events, and community impact.
  • Write and edit clear, engaging content for social media, blog posts, website updates, email communications, newsletter, and other digital platforms.
  • Manage external partners, such as influencers and community organizations, to support content development and engagement goals.
  • Collaborate with teams across the museum to gather stories, program updates, and content ideas.
  • Maintain a consistent voice and tone aligned with the Amazeum brand.
  • Monitor and respond to online reviews and guest feedback across digital platforms in a timely and brand-aligned manner.
  • Monitor and track media mentions for compilation and reporting.

Social Media Management

  • Manage the Amazeum’s social media channels and maintain an organized content calendar.
  • Plan, schedule, and publish social media content that promotes programs, exhibits, and museum initiatives.
  • Create original social media content, including photography and video, and edit using mobile or desktop tools.
  • Monitor engagement and audience interactions across platforms.
  • Track social media performance and provide insights on engagement and reach.

Website Content Management

  • Maintain and update website content using the museum’s Content Management System (CMS).
  • Ensure website information is accurate, current, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Upload and organize images, graphics, and other digital assets for web use.
  • Coordinate website updates with internal teams and external developers when technical changes are required.
  • Monitor website analytics and identify opportunities to improve content or user experience.

Communications Support

  • Assist with development of media materials, press releases, and promotional content as needed.
  • Support digital marketing and communications initiatives that promote Amazeum programs and events.
  • Coordinate digital content and communications projects across departments to meet deadlines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience updating website content using a Content Management System (CMS) (such as Squarespace, Drupal, WordPress)
  • 2+ years of experience making routine website edits such as updating text, images, and page information.
  • 2+ year experience creating and writing clear, engaging content for public audiences, such as social media, websites, newsletter, or blogs.
  • Ability to organize and maintain digital assets for web use.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basics of photography, videography, editing, and template based graphic design

  • Complete and pass a background check

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for frequent use of a keyboard, mouse, and other digital tools.
  • Ability to review and edit digital content with attention to detail.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time for desk-based role with occasional standing or movement.
  • Ability to life up to 25 lbs. for handling equipment or printed materials.
  • Ability to move within the office or museum spaces to collaborate with teams.
  • Ability to perform work in an environment with moderate to excessive noise.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or similar graphic design tools.
  • Familiarity with wireframing tools and techniques for visualizing website updates.
  • Ability to communicate design concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with SEO and GEO strategies to optimize content visibility.
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices in digital design.
