Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate and highly organized Publicity Coordinator to join our African American targeted publicity team in Los Angeles. This role supports the planning and execution of campaigns for major entertainment properties, with a focus on authentically reaching Black audiences nationwide. The ideal candidate is extremely detailed, a self-starter, strong communicator, and meticulous executor with a deep appreciation for Black culture and media.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of publicity and promotions campaigns targeting Black consumers across film, television, and streaming titles.
  • Assist senior team members in daily campaign operations, keeping them updated on progress and deliverables.
  • Compile and track press coverage, clips, impressions, and media values for daily, weekly, and final reporting.
  • Draft and prepare campaign documents including pitch emails, status updates, event recaps, client communications, and talent schedules.
  • Keep up-to-date media databases and word-of-mouth contact lists, continuously identifying new outlets and voices.
  • Join weekly client calls to take notes and share next-steps and deliverables internally and with clients.
  • Coordinate and staff campaign events such as press junkets, premieres, in-studio appearances, promotional screenings, and community activations.
  • Research and recommend culturally relevant opportunities—such as local orgs, HBCUs, retail partners, influencers, and community-based platforms.
  • Maintain strong, respectful relationships with media, community stakeholders, clients, and talent teams.
  • Contribute creative ideas in brainstorms, tapping into cultural insights and trends within the Black community.
  • Handle administrative tasks including scheduling, billing, timesheets, shipping, and vendor coordination.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Graduates of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; exceptional grammar and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage confidential matters with professionalism, tact, and discretion.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets), Microsoft Office, Muckrack, and a willingness to learn internal systems quickly.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and available for occasional evening or weekend assignments.
  • Deep knowledge of and passion for African American culture, media, and storytelling.
  • Ability to thrive in both team settings and with independent responsibilities.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in publicity, marketing, or communications—preferably within entertainment, media, or agency settings.
  • Experience working within a multicultural or culturally specific marketing environment is strongly preferred.

Pay: $71,000.00 per year
