Communications Coordinator Have you ever wished a sloth a happy birthday? Or celebrated the birth of a baby hippo? This could be part of your job as the Communications Coordinator at John Ball Zoo! The Communications Coordinator grows the Zoo’s digital presence via various platforms/tools and coordinates media requests under the direction of the Digital Communications Manager. They create and maintain social, media, and email content that ties in with the Zoo’s brand voice, attracts attention, and garners high engagement of targeted audiences. This position’s pay range is: $18.39 – $21.63 per hour A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR The Communications Coordinator executes social media content plans developed by the Digital Communications Manager by scheduling and posting content across platforms while actively engaging with the online community. They would be tasked with capturing, editing, and producing photo and video content to support social media initiatives and digital storytelling efforts. The Communications Coordinator monitors social media channels to identify trends, engagement opportunities, and potential issues, flagging them for review when appropriate. Using data analytic tools, they would track, analyze, and compile social media performance insights and summaries. The Communications Coordinator contributes ideas and recommendations for social media and digital campaigns while adhering to the organization’s established brand voice and strategy. Additionally, they research influencers, community partners, and emerging digital trends and supports outreach and coordination efforts as directed. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR AT JBZ

  • Affinity for the mission and values of John Ball Zoo.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field
  • At least two years of experience in digital content creation, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Ability to create and maintain content across multiple social media platforms
  • Ability to analyze social media metrics and apply insights to improve engagement
  • Strong collaboration skills within a marketing team and non-profit environment
  • Clear and professional communication with internal teams and external partners
  • Understanding of brand consistency and ability to produce on-brand content
  • Ability to write and produce content in a consistent, branded voice
  • Ability to capture, edit, and produce high-quality marketing photos and videos
  • Ability to interact positively with a wide array of individuals from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills
  • Ability to work some evening and/or weekend hours, as required
