SUMMARY
United Communications is seeking a Community Engagement & Event Specialist to join our team. This role is instrumental in organizing and executing dynamic community events that enhance customer experience, drive brand awareness and sales, and strengthen community partnerships. With a direct impact on our Net Promoter Score (NPS), this position plays a key role in fostering strong relationships, expanding our network of brand ambassadors, and supporting United’s mission to deliver exceptional service throughout Middle Tennessee.

POSITION SCHEDULE AND ONSITE REQUIREMENTS
This is a direct-hire, full-time, on-site position located at our Franklin, TN office. This position will require travel throughout our Middle Tennessee footprint.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include the following, but other duties may be assigned as required.
Event Planning & Execution:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute engaging community events, market launch events, and sponsorship activations that enhance United’s sales, reputation, and visibility.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to ensure seamless market launch event execution.
- Manage logistics, vendor relations, budgeting, and on-site coordination for all events.
- Track and measure the success of events based on on-site sales made, attendance, engagement, and feedback.
Community & Brand Engagement:
- Develop and nurture partnerships with local businesses, community leaders, and other organizations such as HOAs (homeowner associations) that help drive sales.
- Collaborate with Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) and other utility partners on co-branding initiatives to help drive sales.
- Represent United Communications at local market launch events, festivals, resource fairs, and community outreach programs to help drive sales.
- Maintain and update the master market launch event calendar to align with strategic business objectives.
Marketing & Content Development:
- Capture compelling content (photos, videos, and stories) at market launch events for social media and digital platforms.
- Assist in creating a monthly e-newsletter to engage community leaders and influencers in market launch areas.
- Work closely with the marketing team to ensure event promotions align with United’s brand strategy and annual revenue growth goals.
- Contribute creative ideas for marketing campaigns that drive increased sales in market launch areas.
Cross Department Collaboration:
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Operations teams to integrate market launch activities and events into broader company-wide initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for additional community programs and partnerships to enhance United’s outreach in the new market launch areas.
- Maintain strong internal communication to ensure company-wide support and assistance with community engagement initiatives and market launch events.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Support other marketing and company initiatives as needed.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Market Launch Manager
WHAT YOU BRING
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, event management, hospitality, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in event planning, community engagement, or a related role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects effectively.
- A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic graphic design skills and experience with Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of social media marketing and content creation.
- Strong conceptual and creative design skills with the ability to contribute ideas and marketing solutions.
