POSITION TITLE: Digital Engagement Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Marketing & Communications

REPORTS TO: Chief Marketing Officer

SALARY/FLSA STATUS: Exempt/Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Digital Engagement Specialist is a digital strategist responsible for growing awareness, engagement, and community connection across all digital platforms for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay. This role goes far beyond posting and scheduling content. It requires a tech- and trend-savvy strategist who understands how social media integrates with paid digital advertising, analytics, SEO, and broader brand campaigns to drive measurable results.

The ideal candidate is both creative and analytical. Someone who thrives in dashboards as much as content creation, understands the mechanics behind digital growth, and sees social platforms as tools to advance mission impact, fundraising, recruitment, and brand visibility.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Digital Strategy & Platform Growth

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, data-informed social media and digital engagement strategy aligned with organizational priorities and campaigns.
  • Identify growth opportunities across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging platforms).
  • Monitor digital trends, algorithm updates, and platform changes to proactively evolve strategy.
  • Build systems that increase follower growth, engagement rates, and audience retention.

Content & Community Engagement

  • Create, schedule, and manage high-performing content across platforms, ensuring alignment with brand voice and campaign messaging in collaboration with Sr. Director of Communications.
  • Actively manage daily engagement (comments, DMs, community responses) building authentic two-way dialogue.
  • Identify opportunities to connect community partners, donors, alumni, parents, and youth through strategic tagging and collaborative content.
  • Elevate user-generated content and amplify community voices.
  • Capture real-time content at events and Club sites as needed.

Paid Digital Advertising & Performance Marketing

  • Manage and optimize paid digital campaigns across Meta, LinkedIn, Google Ads, and YouTube.
  • Develop audience segmentation strategies to support fundraising, recruitment, and awareness campaigns.
  • Monitor cost-per-click, cost-per-lead, and conversions.
  • Collaborate with Development and MarComm leadership to align paid efforts with campaign goals.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Own digital performance dashboards and provide monthly insights on:
    • Engagement rates
    • Reach & impressions
    • Conversion metrics
    • Click-through rates
    • Audience growth
    • Ad performance
  • Translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Continuously test, iterate, and optimize content and ad strategies.
  • Identify ROI trends and recommend strategic pivots when needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the Senior Director of Communications and Creative Director to align digital storytelling with campaign objectives.
  • Support fundraising campaigns with digitally integrated messaging.
  • Collaborate with HR and Operations to support recruitment marketing and employer branding.
  • Serve as the department’s go-to resource for digital best practices.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Pilot emerging tools, AI platforms, and digital engagement technologies.
  • Explore influencer and ambassador partnerships.
  • Evaluate website traffic patterns and SEO opportunities in partnership with leadership.
  • Identify ways to strengthen digital conversion funnels.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or something alike preferred.
  • 2-4 years of progressive experience in social media, digital marketing, or performance marketing.
  • Demonstrated experience managing paid digital advertising campaigns (Meta, Google Ads required; LinkedIn preferred).
  • Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social, or similar platforms.
  • Experience building engagement strategies beyond vanity metrics.
  • Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals and digital conversion pathways.
  • Skilled in Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Exceptional written communication skills.
  • Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations preferred.
  • Highly proactive, self-directed, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

TRAVEL:

Travel may be required to multiple Club facilities throughout Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas County for training and/or other business purposes.
