Knowledge and Skills

  • Undergraduate degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in social media, content marketing, public relations and/or integrated communications within an agency or corporate environment.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities with experience mentoring staff, delegating work, building process and driving accountability across a team.
  • Deep knowledge of social media strategy, content development, media relations, influencer engagement and paid social best practices.
  • Strong understanding of current and emerging platforms, trends, tools and technologies that impact social media and content performance.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and messaging skills with the ability to shape strategic content direction across channels and audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to build client relationships, present recommendations and grow business through proactive thinking and program leadership.
  • Strong strategic, analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced agency environment.
  • Experience overseeing annual planning, workflow, budgeting, billing efficiency, resource allocation and department profitability.
  • Working knowledge of social media monitoring platforms, content management systems, analytics/reporting tools, SEO best practices and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Positive attitude, sound judgment and the ability to collaborate effectively across agency departments.

Responsibilities1. Social & Content Strategy

  • Lead the vision, strategy and direction of the Social and Content department for both client and agency initiatives.
  • Develop annual and long-range social and content plans aligned with client business objectives, brand strategy and agency growth goals.
  • Guide integrated social media, content marketing, public relations, influencer and thought leadership strategies across accounts.
  • Ensure social and content recommendations support broader omnichannel marketing programs in collaboration with client services, creative, digital and other agency teams.
  • Identify emerging opportunities in platforms, formats, audience behavior and content consumption to keep clients and the agency ahead of industry trends.
  • Oversee governance, editorial planning, channel strategy, messaging direction and response protocols for social media programs.
  • Lead strategy for Celtic’s social media presence, blog, thought leadership content and related communications efforts.

2. Department Leadership

  • Lead and manage the Social and Content department to ensure high-quality work, efficient workflow and strong collaboration across the team.
  • Develop department processes, standards and best practices that support quality, consistency, timeliness and profitability.
  • Organize and oversee assignments across the team to ensure proper workload balance, billable efficiency and timely delivery of client work.
  • Set expectations for the quality of all department output, including social campaigns, copywriting, public relations materials, editorial content and strategic recommendations.
  • Build structure and accountability within the department while fostering a collaborative, solutions-oriented environment.
  • Partner with agency leadership to evolve the department based on client demand, market trends and growth opportunities.

3. Client Programs & Growth

  • Serve as a lead strategic partner for social and content clients while supporting broader account leadership across the agency.
  • Build strong relationships with clients through regular communication, presentations, planning sessions and proactive recommendations.
  • Oversee client social, content and public relations programs from strategic planning through executional direction and optimization.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client programs, enhance scope and grow accounts through innovative and effective recommendations.
  • Contribute to annual client planning, campaign strategy, messaging development and program enhancement planning.
  • Support new business efforts through strategic input, pitch development and presentation of social and content capabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with client services and agency leadership to strengthen existing client relationships and pursue new opportunities.

4. Content, PR & Innovation

  • Oversee the development of content strategies and editorial direction for websites, blogs, social media, email, digital campaigns, collateral and other client communications.
  • Provide strategic oversight for copywriting, editing and proofreading standards across the department.
  • Lead media relations strategy for clients, including story development, media targeting, trade and business press outreach, influencer engagement and creative publicity opportunities.
  • Guide the department’s approach to influencer programs, earned media opportunities and integrated campaigns that support client objectives.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies and AI-enabled solutions that improve efficiency, creativity, governance and performance across social and content programs.
  • Stay ahead of platform changes, social trends and content innovations and translate them into actionable recommendations for clients and internal teams.
  • Ensure the department continues to evolve with changing audience behaviors, content formats and best practices.

5. Reporting & Financial Management

  • Oversee department financial performance including estimates, billing efficiency, utilization, capacity and profitability.
  • Create or contribute to project estimates, scope recommendations and planning assumptions for client programs and new business opportunities.
  • Manage the department’s resources and staffing levels to support both client demand and financial health.
  • Partner with the digital team on analytics and reporting while overseeing the interpretation and communication of reporting needs on behalf of social and content programs.
  • Ensure that relevant performance metrics, insights and recommendations are communicated clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor program outcomes, identify trends and recommend improvements to strengthen results and guide future planning.
  • Contribute to the agency’s financial health by balancing strategic excellence with operational discipline.

6. Staff Leadership & Development

  • Directly manage members of the Social and Content team and provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, support and performance guidance.
  • Help recruit, train and develop talent to meet client demand and strengthen the department’s capabilities.
  • Foster professional growth through skill development, knowledge sharing and clear expectations for performance and career progression.
  • Lead attitude, harmony and accountability within the team while addressing issues constructively and promptly.
  • Serve as a role model for work quality, communication, problem-solving and professionalism.
  • Encourage collaboration across departments and ensure the team works effectively within integrated client programs.

7. Agency Contribution

  • Displays professional work standards and attitude.
  • Represents the agency in a positive, professional manner during client and business development interactions.
  • Participates as a leader in agency growth, cross-department collaboration and strategic planning.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
