Director of Digital Organizing

Americans for Prosperity

Full-time

Arlington, VA, USA (Remote)

About the job

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is the premier grassroots organization focused on advocating solutions to the country’s greatest challenges. We recognize that tens of millions of Americans are frustrated with the extreme partisanship in government that keeps common-sense reforms from being passed, and instead seek to stand with policy leaders who are committed to finding a better way.

Americans for Prosperity is part of the Stand Together philanthropic community.

The Director of Digital Organizing role is a transformational investment designed to position AFP as a market leading grassroots advocacy organization by embedding digital organizing, digital advocacy, and online grassroots strategies at the core of state and national operations. This role aligns relational organizing, social influence, and localized issue advocacy into a unified digital organizing strategy, while building the systems, talent, and operational capabilities needed to institutionalize digital organizing and lead the future of digital grassroots advocacy.

This role can be based onsite at our Arlington, Virgina HQ or remotely.

How You Will Contribute

  • Serve as a strategic bridge between national digital strategy and local grassroots execution, partnering with national strategy owners and Stand Together digital teams (paid media, organic social, and storytelling) to drive alignment, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead influencer ‑driven digital organizing and advocacy, managing internal and external influencers and digital ambassadors through clear SOPs, performance reporting, and a scalable framework for identifying and activating aligned influencer partners.
  • Act as the central knowledge hub for state based digital organizing, coordinating organic digital strategy and operations while serving as the primary point of contact for state leaders and cross functional partners (digital marketing, regional communications managers, data implementation, and communications).
  • Develop and scale digital organizing best practices, including training programs, toolkits, and resources that equip grassroots teams with modern digital advocacy tools, technologies, and tactics.
  • Optimize the volunteer and activist journey, collaborating with strategy owners to strengthen CRM operations, define key activist engagement touchpoints, and move individuals from initial engagement to long-term grassroots activism.
  • Partner with data and communications teams to ensure visibility into supporter behavior, campaign performance, and feedback loops that drive continuous improvement across digital campaigns.
  • Drive digital organizing transformation and innovation by leading high impact experiments, executing investment strategies through our portfolio owner operating model, and accelerating adoption of emerging digital technologies.

What You Will Bring

  • Success leading a customer journey strategy for a large company, non-profit, or similarly scaled institution
  • Experience using social media and digital platforms for issue advocacy, including expertise with i360 portal and Canva or similar platforms.
  • Strong facilitation, project management, and performance reporting skills.
  • A passion for experimentation, innovation, learning, and grassroots community empowerment.
  • Understanding of and alignment with AFP’s vision and policy priorities.
