Job Description:

Reporting to the SVP of Communications, the Director of Communications will play a crucial role in driving global external communications through thought leadership, storytelling, awards, speaking opportunities and product PR. The ideal candidate will be a storyteller with deep expertise in digital media and advertising technology.

This New York City based-role requires someone with industry knowledge and extensive industry and media relationships. The successful candidate will be expected to develop Communications strategies, stories and campaigns while executing multiple projects simultaneously and flawlessly. They should constantly surface new opportunities to tell the IAS story.

What you'll do:

  • Help create and implement the global communications strategy
  • Generate proactive media coverage that enhances IAS’s reputation with key journalists and influencers and showcases IAS leadership, innovation and customer benefits
  • Identify and secure awards for the company, its leaders and our products
  • Partner with events for high visibility during public speaking opportunities; help secure earned speaking opportunities and map industry and news moments to talking points
  • Join forces with marketing across all major initiatives including product launches and announcements, industry events and speaking, webinars and podcasts, and more
  • Connect communications strategy and activities across all external channels: media, digital, social, and spokespeople
  • Draft press releases, narratives, bylines, pitches, award submissions and other materials
  • Partner with the extended communications team, research, marketing and product marketing to source compelling customer, innovation and technology stories that drive thought leadership and IAS preference
  • Help unite the global communications team, sharing information with other regions, improving team culture and ways of working together to produce repeatable and successful results globally
  • Provide internal counsel across marketing, product marketing, product and business development on best practice ways to surface news and nuggets that position IAS positively and tell our story
  • Guide the PR agency and mentor the Social Media manager
  • Collaborate with legal, HR, recruiting and internal comms as needed

What you'll need:

Key attributes include: quick thinker, results-oriented, lover of words, able to see the big picture while having a keen eye for detail, collaborative, patient, creative, persuasive, resourceful, well-organized, confident, an initiator, flexible and enthusiastic.

  • 12-15 years of direct hands-on Communications/PR experience
  • At least five years of experience in the digital media industry with a preference for the AdTech sector – deep understanding of the industry, players and products
  • Experience in tech both in-house (required) and at a PR agency
  • Strong business acumen and an ability to connect the dots between innovation, impact and industry players
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling instincts, polished presentation skills and the confidence to command a room
  • Ability to maintain a high level of productivity while managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong media relations strategist who is also happy to roll up sleeves and do the legwork to carry out the strategy
  • Comfort working with tight deadlines, often concurrent, for disparate projects
  • Strong listening skills paired with a curious mind who can learn about new subjects and translate them into compelling stories for a broad audience
  • Have exceptional project manager chops and have the ability to structure and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • A self-starter who approaches everything with drive, urgency, and energy
  • Excited to solve hard problems in creative ways
  • Skilled at thinking and comfortable in a constantly changing work environment
  • Ability to travel as required

IAS Pay Transparency:

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location, and any additional locations are listed below. Our pay ranges are based on the work location. As part of IAS compensation package, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, health insurance (medical, dental, vision) as well as PPO, HSA and FSA options and 401k with employer matching contributions. All full-time employee roles include competitive compensation and are eligible for an annual bonus and/or other incentive plans. Each candidate’s compensation package is based on multiple factors, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need.
