About the job

Aerospace is at a turning point — costs are rising, supply chains are strained, and old ways of building can't keep up. At Neon Aero, we're breaking that mold. We move fast, think big, and combine start-up agility with aerospace expertise to design, build, and scale aircraft in ways the industry has never seen. Our team leverages automation, AI-driven tools, and a fully connected digital backbone to accelerate innovation and reduce barriers to production. Here, you won't just take a job — you'll help reinvent how the world flies. If you're ready to solve complex problems, push technology further, and work alongside some of the brightest minds in aerospace, this is your chance to make a real impact. Build the factory that builds the future of aviation.

We are seeking a visionary Director of Production Engineering to architect and scale our production engineering organization from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to design the systems, teams, and capabilities that will power next-generation aviation manufacturing.

You will lead manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, business systems, master scheduling, and production tooling — transforming product designs into efficient, scalable, rate-ready production systems. If you are energized by building teams, solving complex production challenges, and creating world-class manufacturing operations, this role is for you.

Why This Role Matters:

  • Directly impacts cost, throughput, and production efficiency across the enterprise.
  • Build the systems and infrastructure that enable high volume manufacturing.
  • Drives operational excellence in a highly regulated aerospace environment.
  • Critical interface between the factory floor and design engineering

What you'll Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in production engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams in production settings.
  • Proven ability to build teams, processes, and systems from the ground up.
  • Production System Design & Industrial Engineering expertise: capacity modeling, line design, takt time, lean manufacturing, tooling strategy
  • Manufacturing Systems & ERP/MRP implementation: business systems integration, production control, data-driven operations
  • Organizational builder & strategic leader: you can design structure, hire strong teams, and scale capabilities
  • Cross-functional influencer & change agent: you align engineering, supply chain, and operations in fast-paced environment

Why Join Us:

  • Work alongside elite operations talent and innovators from across aerospace and tech.
  • Be part of a team moving faster than the industry standard.
  • Shape solutions that are lower-cost, autonomous, and scalable — the future of aviation.
  • Competitive compensation, including equity participation, growth opportunities, and full health benefits (health, vision, dental, 401K) designed to support you in and out of work.
