About the job
Director of Marketing
Your Mission: Architect Our Growth & Influence
At Turnkey Marketing, our mission is simple: to help small businesses succeed. We provide outsourced marketing management to independent auto repair shop owners so they can focus on what they do best—running their shops.
While we serve hundreds of small businesses nationwide, your focus is us. We are seeking a high-level Director of Marketing to be the strategic engine behind our own brand.
This is not just an execution role; we are looking for a strong leader, a strategist, and an implementer who can take a vision for growth and turn it into a multi-platform reality. The person for this role won’t just be told what to do; they will be given the results we need, and then have the freedom and responsibility to both build and execute the plan to achieve them.
What We Value
- We genuinely care - We listen to, care for, and serve people beyond what’s typically expected in a business relationship. We care for others because we believe in people and their dreams.
- We face challenges with optimism and grit - We recognize there are always options in this abundant world; we keep our cool and don’t fold under pressure. We move forward with hope and confidence because we know that if there’s a will, there’s a way.
- We own it - We believe that our work is bigger than the task at hand. We have an ownership mindset, take responsibility, keep our word, and do what it takes to get the job done because good work done well contributes to the common good. We all win when everyone does their part.
- We do the right thing - We aren’t driven by what is convenient but by what is right, good, and fair, even if it is uncomfortable, more work, or hurts us financially. Even if others go low, we go high.
- We check our egos at the door - We know we aren’t perfect and aren’t afraid to try new things, share our opinions, or make mistakes. We aren’t driven by the need to be right but by the insatiable desire to be excellent. We are open to learning from others.
- We build trust - We build trust through transparency, self-accountability and open, authentic communication. We assume positive intent, and we’re the first to extend trust.
Why Join Our Team
- You’ll get to do work that matters and makes a difference
- We believe in people and their dreams—including yours
- You’ll get to learn more about yourself and become a better person
- You’ll be part of an amazing group of people who care about each other and our clients
- You’ll develop your professional skills
Who You Are
You are a strong and confident leader with a track record of success. You’re not someone who leans on theory—but on real experiences and lived lessons.
You know it’s not about you. Titles, status, and individual success mean less to you than being part of a strong team. You let others shine and you don’t have to be first. You share credit, highlight the accomplishments of your colleagues, and understand it takes everyone to win.
You’re driven and focused and don’t need—or want—someone to tell you what to do next. You also embrace accountability because you believe results matter. You enjoy learning and can take advice from anyone, knowing you’ll be better for it.
You understand yourself and others. You know that healthy ideological conflict and challenges come with working with people, and you handle them with grace. You have good judgment and intuition when it comes to working with others and you know the impact of your words and actions.
You’re not into drama and don’t take an “us vs. them” mindset.
And those six core values? Those beliefs define you.
This Position Is For You If…
- You are a marketing nerd: You geek out on creating funnels, capturing attention and building brands. You love direct response and all the big “marketing celebrities”. You follow influencers and you’re always trying to re-engineer their success and see what they did/are doing to gain popularity.
- You are a proven strategist: You don’t need a map; you draw it. You can take a high-level objective and translate it into a comprehensive strategy across email, website, and social media.
- You build "Influencer" authority: You have a track record of creating a following. You know how to position a brand (or a person) as a thought leader that people want to follow.
- You are a conversion master: You excel at direct response marketing and have a deep understanding of marketing funnels.
- You thrive on results: You geek out over metrics and are driven by the "scorecard." If a campaign isn't performing, you don't complain—you pivot and optimize.
- You lead by doing: While you are a strategist, you aren't "above" the work. You can write the copy, direct the video, and ensure the brand voice is consistent and compelling.
- You understand the "StoryBrand" soul: You know how to use frameworks like StoryBrand and Problem-Agitation-Solution to create messages that resonate deeply with small business owners.
- You thrive at creating educational social media content and video content that inspires and entertains a specific audience of small business owners.
- You understand people and what motivates them.
- You understand marketing funnels and how to capture and convert leads.
- You have a "can-do" attitude and a hunger for learning and becoming better at what you do.
- You have experience with graphic design, especially for social media.
- You love keeping up with trends on social media and you can easily spot what works and what doesn’t work on social media posts and marketing
- You believe in the power of small business to support and change a community.
- You’re competitive and want your team to win.
- You believe that your work is bigger than the task at hand.
This Position Is NOT For You If…
- You don’t excel at getting projects off the ground and to the finish line quickly and with accuracy.
- You favor passivity and do not feel comfortable being confronted, held accountable to results, and holding others accountable to results.
- You prefer to work on generic brand awareness campaigns over results-driven lead generation.
- You’ve never successfully done marketing before.
- You’re a slacker, complainer, and/or a person who passes off responsibility.
- You aren’t a fan of social media.
- You are a great “doer” but you need lots of direction and handholding.
- You don’t feel confident coming up with ideas based on proven results and popular trends.
- You're not comfortable creating and appearing in video content.
- You need someone to tell you what to do next instead of taking initiative and owning the outcome.
- Individual achievement is more important to you than being a part of a strong team.
- Getting stuff done quickly or hitting deadlines feels more optional than necessary
- Your values are not in alignment with ours.
The Right Candidate MUST Have/Be The Following

- B2B Expertise: Experience specifically targeting service-based small businesses.
- Authority Building: A portfolio or history of successfully building an influencer-type following for a brand or executive.
- Technical Proficiency: Mastery of direct response copywriting (Kennedy/Miller style) and experience with video production and editing.
- The "Turnkey" Mindset: Proactive initiative. You don’t wait to be told what to do; you own the outcome.
- A proven track record of writing direct response copy for websites, emails, and social media. A deep understanding of copywriting principles from marketers like Dan Kennedy and Donald Miller is a significant plus.
- Success with video production and editing for social media and web.
- Experience with graphic design for social media.
- A deep love for organization and the ability to pivot and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
