INNOCEAN USA, a full-service advertising agency located in sunny Huntington Beach, CA, is seeking a VP Group Account Director, Social, to join our growing Hyundai team!
We are a hybrid workplace, currently x3 days week in-office. Candidates must be local to SoCal.
Our ideal candidate has 10+ years experience managing social media marketing projects at an advertising agency. Previous experience in a management role, managing teams of 5+ direct reports.
The social account team is responsible for content production, brand partnerships, community response, influencer content creation and client management. We are a team of specialists and subject matter experts with a deep understanding of our clients’ business and the social media landscape.
OVERVIEW:
The VP, Group Account Director, Social, oversees the team’s efforts of executing projects and developing social strategies on behalf of our clients. The ideal candidate has previous experience in an agency or client services environment and will have managed multiple teams across a variety of social channels/projects simultaneously to successful completion.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Social
- Demonstrated expertise and understanding of best practices across all social channels (including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, Pinterest and Reddit) and paid social strategies for each channel.
- Bring new social strategies, ideas and approaches to drive results for the client, based on their marketing objectives.
- Manages platform partnerships and media partnerships alongside internal IUS media teams and helps integrate across agencies and client for a holistic social approach.
- Understanding of use of Influencers/Creators, Influencer Management, and the role of a SAG Signatory agency.
- Understanding of social media management tools (e.g. Sprinklr, Plannable, Creator I.Q.)
- Demonstrate the ability to guide clients on effective use of talent, celebrities, and influencers, and help develop strategies to guide internal teams on the effective use of different types of roles.
- Lead the community management team to engage on the platforms with the audience in a way that is on brand for the clients and grows the follower base.
Business/Marketing
- Build and utilize a solid understanding of the client’s business, competitor landscape, as well as and best practices to lead the clients and steward the brand.
- Identify new business opportunities within current client engagement to deepen the relationship. Leverage agency and client relationship to identify growth opportunities and sell in new services.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and refine both internal and external processes.
- Develop impactful strategies in partnership with the Strategy team and serve as a leader to internal and client creative teams.
Leadership
- Serve as a passionate and visible leader of business, marketing, customer and brand insight in internal and external meetings.
- Effectively collaborate with strategy, production, business affairs, project management, media, creative and data science teams. Guide internal teams so that they are clear and aligned on what we are doing and where we are heading.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to working-level account teams.
- Partner with clients in a positive, professional and constructive way, establishing solid long-term relationships.
- Demonstrate flexibility and “read” situations in order to react appropriately and solve issues.
- Manage expectations that are beyond particular scope, but crucial to success.
- Escalate issues and risks in complex situations.
Financial / Project Management
- Manages entire programs independently, adhering to agency process, working effectively with all capabilities and using their expertise appropriately.
- Ensure team members take personal accountability for on-time, on-budget, quality execution.
- Proactively manage and communicate between scope, schedule and budget with clients, partners and internally, on an ongoing basis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of experience managing social media marketing projects at an advertising agency.
- Previous experience in a management role, managing teams of 5+ direct reports.
- Automotive experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated success building productive relationships with clients and agency team members.
- Ability to think strategically and work autonomously.
- Direct, assertive, fearless and ready for the challenge.
- Thorough understanding of 360 advertising campaign process.
- Polished written and oral presentation skills.
- Excellent project skills and ability to provide team leadership and strategic direction to diverse, multi-location groups

The salary range for this role is $240,000 - $260,000. Pay is dependent upon several factors including but not limited to: budget, client, experience, training and/or transferable skills.
