LOVB San Francisco Volleyball is League One Volleyball's ninth team, proudly representing the Bay Area and set to play its inaugural season in 2027. The organization is shaping a new vision for professional sports, emphasizing elite competition, community engagement, and the advancement of women’s volleyball. One of the most decorated ownership groups in history with more than 30 Olympic medals, and multiple world and national titles, LOVB SFs ownership group is women-led and barrier-breaking across support, business and culture.
Position Overview
The Vice President of Marketing will serve as the strategic and operational leader of the LOVB San Francisco marketing function. This executive will be responsible for building the brand, driving revenue through ticketing and merchandise, amplifying partnerships, and establishing the team as a cultural force in the Bay Area.
This is a foundational leadership role responsible for building the marketing organization from scratch and leading the go-to-market strategy ahead of the 2027 inaugural season.
The ideal candidate combines executive-level strategy with hands-on execution and has experience scaling high-growth sports, entertainment, or consumer brands.
This role is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Core ResponsibilitiesBrand Strategy & Market Positioning
- Own the LOVB San Francisco brand platform, positioning, and in-market identity
- Develop a multi-year brand strategy that establishes the team as a long-term cultural anchor in the Bay Area
- Ensure cohesive storytelling across ticketing, partnerships, retail, digital, and in-arena experiences
- Align with league-level marketing initiatives while tailoring strategy to the local market
Revenue & Demand Generation
- Lead full-funnel marketing strategy to drive season tickets, group sales, premium seating, and single-game demand working with our ticketing lead
- Oversee performance marketing, CRM strategy, media buying, and database growth
- Build measurable acquisition and retention strategies that convert youth volleyball participation into professional fandom
- Develop launch campaigns that create sustained momentum through our inaugural season and beyond
Content, Social & Cultural Impact
- Lead content and social strategy that elevates athletes and builds year-round engagement
- Oversee creative direction and ensure culturally relevant storytelling
- Develop influencer, creator, and community partnerships that expand reach and relevance
- Ensure content efforts directly support revenue and fan growth objectives
Partnerships & Commercial Integration
- Collaborate with our partnerships lead to maximize sponsor integration and measurable ROI
- Lead merchandise and retail marketing strategy in coordination with commercial leadership
- Support long-term retail and storefront strategy as the team scales
Community & Ecosystem Activation
- Build deep engagement within Bay Area volleyball communities
- Oversee and build engagement calendar for street team and ambassador program
- Position LOVB San Francisco as both a professional sports team and a platform for access, aspiration, and impact.
Leadership & Organizational Build
- Build and lead a high-performing marketing team over time
- Manage agencies across creative, PR, media, and digital, as we onboard
- Establish KPIs, reporting structures, budget oversight, and performance accountability
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to overall team strategy
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience
- Proven success building or scaling a sports, entertainment, or consumer brand
- Demonstrated ability to drive measurable revenue growth through integrated marketing
- Deep expertise in digital acquisition, CRM, analytics, and performance marketing
- Strong creative and cultural instincts paired with data fluency
- Experience leading teams and managing agency partners
- Passion for women’s sports and community-centered growth
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $160,000. Actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors, including experience, skills, and scope.
