Position Summary
Serving on the Marketing and Communications Team, the Content Marketing/Communications Specialist is a dynamic self-starter, and responsible for supporting the team’s overall strategic marketing and communications initiatives through creative content creation, editorial development and assisting during photo and video productions. Ultimately, efforts will elevate the message and visibility of Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council (GSACPC), its programs, members, and events in the community. GSACPC serves girls and adult volunteers in central and northern Arizona and is one of 111 councils chartered by our national organization GSUSA.Reports to: Creative Director

Essential Functions
Work collaboratively within the department and creative team to promote marketing campaigns ensuring high quality, engaging and consistent storytelling via social media and other communication channels.
- Craft social media content that aligns with the Girl Scout brand (voice, design, tone, etc.).
- Coordinate and staff signature council events, when assigned, and support related media efforts as needed.
- Provide support communications for member campaigns and signature events.
- Source stories and draft editorial content including articles for council’s triannual magazine, social media, council newsletters, collateral materials, among other communications.
- Create graphics (Adobe Creative Suite) to support social media content and newsletter imagery.
- Support production of multimedia projects including development, pre-production, and filming assistance.
Help maintain production calendars, physical and digital assets, member stories pipeline, tools, and supplies, ensure tasks are completed on time, and support efficient use of resources.
Monitoring, measurement, and reporting for all social media platforms – provide monthly metrics in an organized and timely manner.
Remain current with social media trends, industry updates and proactively leverage resources available from GSUSA.
Share learnings and innovations and test new ideas, strategies, channels, etc.
Support GSACPC’s social media platforms by crafting creative content.
- Provide ideas, write, schedule, publish, and design content. Provide design support for social media graphics using the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Social media monitoring, responding, and engaging across all social media channels.
- Mine posts, messages, and email submissions for stories/content to be filed and/or purposed across GSACPC channels.
- Work with Digital Marketing Manager on website maintenance through editing and adding site content, developing, and managing the annual graphics and blog schedule.
Coordinate effective and engaging member-focused and general council communications that appeal to a highly diverse constituency and demographic.
- Execute through research, written content and editing.
- Serve as a council spokesperson for English and Spanish media.
- Provide support on ongoing communications with input and alignment from the team, including but not limited to member emails and the triannual magazine.
- Provide creative support through graphic design for social media and other projects as assigned.
- Provide support communications for member campaigns, and events, including but not limited to Annual Meeting, Spring Renewal, High Awards, and Volunteer Appreciation.
- Provide support on major external marketing campaigns as identified, primarily through messaging development, related member communications, events, and PR.
Support traditional media relations as needed.
- Monitor publications, web alerts, social media, and vendor reports for print, online and broadcast placements. Maintain coverage clips database and reporting.
- Identify member stories appropriate to council priorities, campaigns, news cycle, relativity, etc.
- Support the council’s Media Ambassador program, including coordinating, staffing, and providing assistance as directed.
- Stay up-to-date with industry topics and trends. Help research and identify influential community and media members to engage in strategic initiatives.
Support council publications through editorial and copywriting efforts.
Provide well-crafted, editorial articles to support PR efforts and the council’s triannual magazine, Girl Scout Connections.
Serve as a copywriter for various project requests, ensuring that all marketing collateral is grammatically sound and accurately represents the Girl Scout brand.
Craft and edit council’s monthly newsletters and promotional emails.

Requirements and Qualifications* Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field and 1-3 years of marketing, communications and/or project management experience. Solid written and verbal communications skills, familiar with AP style.
Ability to adopt editorial and brand guidelines and implement with consistency.
Bilingual – be a native or fluent Spanish speaker.
Design experience using the Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with measurement, analyzing data and reporting/implementing learnings.
Possess a firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space, with experience utilizing said channels in a business setting. Willing to support content development utilizing available online tools.
Must be computer literate (working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), and have solid experience with digital media: email, social media, websites and measurement tools.
Must be aligned with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) values, culturally sensitive, and effectively convey the council's message among diverse communities, including non-native speakers of English.
Must be willing to learn and use the competencies essential to GSACPC’s theory of change models and learning organization culture. Willingness to fully participate in staff development opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID 19. Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience and interest in multicultural marketing and storytelling.
- Media and influencer relations experience.
- Some experience with, and willingness to learn, monitoring and measurement tools such as Sprout Social, Salesforce, Smartsheet.
- Hands-on experience with email systems, preferably Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the Girl Scout program.
- Behavior consistent with the core competencies, core values, and beliefs of the organization. Physical Abilities
- Able to lift 25+ lbs., sit at a computer for three consecutive hours, stand for 2+ hours/day, climb stairs daily.
- Able to work evenings and weekends, when necessary.
- Valid AZ driver’s license.
