We need a Principal - Social Commerce Demand & Inventory Strategy to architect and scale a forecasting and inventory optimization framework purpose-built for TikTok, within a shared inventory ecosystem . This is not a traditional planner role, but a highly analytical, technologically fluent operator required to manage TikTok Shop's fundamentally different demand profile, which is driven by influencer campaigns and viral content resulting in nonlinear, unpredictable spikes. Success, which involves designing predictive models and building scalable solutions with Product and Engineering, is measured through business performance, brand satisfaction, and team impact in this fast-moving marketplace environment.

This is a full-time role and will work a hybrid schedule based in Lehi, UT.

What is a day in the life of a Principal, Social Commerce Demand & Inventory Strategy?

  • Design and refine TikTok-specific forecasting models by integrating real-time signals (influencer calendars, media spend, viral patterns) to create predictive, signal-based projections.
  • Develop intelligent prioritization and coverage frameworks within Pattern's pooled inventory system, defining dynamic safety stock and risk triggers to anticipate and influence TikTok demand.
  • Manage TikTok in-stock performance, reduce stockouts, and own analytics for lost revenue and inventory metrics (DIO, Weeks of Supply). Quantify cross-marketplace tradeoffs to balance growth and working capital.
  • Translate inventory and forecasting logic into scalable tools by partnering with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to embed automated solutions into core systems.
  • Serve as the analytical and technical liaison across Inventory Management, Brand / Market place, and Finance, communicating complex insights to inform broader network decisions.
  • Navigate ambiguity by building interim solutions, creating structured assumptions for incomplete data, and balancing strategic design with hands-on, rapid execution during viral events.

What will I need to thrive in this role?

  • 8+ years in demand planning, inventory strategy, supply chain analytics, or marketplace operations within high-growth e-commerce environments.
  • Strong analytical foundation with fluency in Excel, SQL, BI tools, and forecasting methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience translating analytical frameworks into scalable productized solutions.
  • Experience operating in shared inventory or multi-marketplace models strongly preferred.
  • Background in Amazon, DTC, social commerce, or high-velocity startup environments is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally while remaining hands-on and execution-focused.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills

What does success look like in the first 30, 60, 90 days?

  • First 30 Days: Focus on immersing in Pattern's pooled inventory philosophy, current data architecture, and existing forecasting methodologies. Begin designing the initial TikTok-specific demand forecasting logic, identifying key signals like influencer calendars and media spend to move toward a predictive model.
  • By 60 Days: Collaborate deeply with TikTok Market Place. Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to translate the initial forecasting logic into a scalable, productized solution by defining system requirements and influencing roadmap prioritization. Simultaneously, establish the initial framework and analytics for in-stock performance, DIO, and revenue risk management tailored to TikTok's high volatility.
  • By 90 Days: Fully operationalize the first version of the new forecasting and inventory framework, ensuring its intelligence is integrated into broader network decisions via cross-functional leadership with Inventory, Brand, and Finance teams. Deliver initial, measurable improvements in forecast accuracy during demand spikes and a tangible reduction in TikTok stockouts while stabilizing Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO)

What is the team like?

  • You will work with the other Inventory Managers, Market Place, Brand Product teams and be supervised by the Head of Global Inventory Management. Additionally this position also dotted line reports into the TikTok Market Place team. The team is data driven and results oriented. You will collaborate regularly with members of the broader Supply Chain and Market Place teams to implement actionable solutions. Ideas and input are encouraged from all members.
