Social Media Content Lead
Full-time
Austin, TX, US (Remote)
About the job
Do you watch TikToks twice—once to laugh, and once to reverse-engineer why it worked? Do you have an “social inspo saves” that if printed would put the 1,079 pages of David Foster Wallace’s “Infinite Jest” to shame! Fan-TASTIC! Because ~Pourri (formerly Poo~Pourri) is on the hunt for an experienced creative minded Social Media Content Lead with an elevated sense of humor, a creatively strategic mind, and a passion for clever social content.
About Us:
In 2007, Suzy Bátiz created Poo~Pourri, a natural, effective solution to a universal problem: sh*t happens… and it stinks. Since then, Poo~Pourri has rapidly grown to become way more than just an odor eliminating product. Poo~Pourri has taken a shift - a shift in bathroom routine, a shift in how things “should” be done, a shift in company culture. We’re a company of fast-paced rule-breakers on a mission to find new paths to personal freedom. Our brand redefines how the world thinks, and talks, about taboos. Ignoring the status quo, Poo~Pourri has created a new category in personal care. Along the way, our gutsy marketing tactics have won us many (badass) awards, including the Funniest Viral Video of the Year by AdAge, webby awards, and more. In a world full of rules, playing it safe, and “that can’t be done,” Poo~Pourri doesn’t subscribe to that crap. We dream differently. Want to come play with us?
About the role
This role is not a traditional Social Media Content Lead role. This is a blend of creative + social strategy leadership, focused on building and running our organic content machine. As a creative oriented rockstar, you will own organic content strategy and execution—what we post, why we post it, and how it ladders integrates into the marketing strategy. More than the average briefing, just “posting” and scheduling, you will guide the narrative, cadence and learnings to really create a content engine of our multi-brand media ecosystem spanning lifestyle commerce, music, spiritual programming, and founder-led content. You will work closely with the team and outside partners to make content that’s not just funny or educational, but intentional, consistent, and scalable.
What you’ll own (aka the sh*t you’ll run with)
- Develop and own the organic content strategy across key social platforms (especially TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts).
- Build a scalable content engine that is audience-informed, performance-tracked, and deeply integrated with brand, product, and growth goals.
- Develop and maintain a repeatable content system: formats, series, segments, and “show” frameworks that scale.
- Create and manage the daily/weekly content cadence (calendar, scheduling, and real-time pivots when the internet does its thing).
- Lead organic testing strategy and calendar (hooks, edits, captions, pacing, angles) and translate learnings into clear creative direction for further organic and paid media integrations.
- Lead ownership of social KPI creation and reporting, and monitor social insights... what’s working, what’s not, and what we’re doing next because of it.
- Collaborate with Brand Marketing, Creative, and Paid Media teams to provide top-performing organic content for paid amplification/testing.
- Engage with the community by monitoring and responding to comments/DMs, and helping foster a smart, funny, human presence. Additionally, looking for culture moments aligned with the brand where we would naturally fit into a conversation.
- Oversee micro-influencer marketing (briefing, creative guidance, performance feedback).
- Collaborate with internal social content editors, creative team, and external partners to Plan, film, and edit engaging content! Sometimes stepping in front of the camera, sometimes behind!
- Work with marketing team members to develop consumer cohorts/segment strategy from a social point of view. Including developing interests and segment strategy, content learnings, etc. to guide content creation and marketing strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS + EXPERIENCE (What****we’re looking for)
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or similar (nice to have—not a dealbreaker).
- 4-5 years of proven experience as a content creator, social media coordinator, community manager, or similar role with a portfolio of work.
- Strong understanding of major platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, Snapchat, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Experience with creative tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, CapCut (or equivalents).
- Strong writing skills (grammar matters—yes, even in poop jokes).
- Excellent creative instincts: you know what to cut, what to keep, and what to punch up.
- Great judgment + willingness to push the brand further while protecting what makes it great.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment: you can prioritize, move quickly, and stay calm.
- Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Sprout, Sprinklr) and analytics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Energetic, curious, collaborative, and proactive.
- Must be willing to work nonstandard business hours, including nights and weekends (social media doesn’t close at 5 o’clock!)
- Available for frequent in-person shoots and events.
Bonus points if you have…(That extra somethin’)
- Social listening experience
- Experience and comfort occasionally being in front of the camera as well to film content
- Comfort with Asana, Excel, and reporting tools
- Experience bridging organic content into paid social testing strategy
