Senior Manager, Trends Location: NYC Position Summary:
The Senior Manager, Trends is a key leader in shaping fashion forecasting for Walmart. This role provides expert-level trend research, strategic storytelling, and creative direction to inform design, product development, and fashion editorial teams. The ideal candidate will leverage industry expertise, data-driven insights, and cross-functional collaboration to influence seasonal global trends, business strategies, and customer engagement across multiple categories and market segments.
Key Responsibilities:
Trend Forecasting & Research:
- Lead the development of seasonal trend forecasting tools, ensuring insights are grounded in extensive research, consumer behavior, and market shifts.
- Oversee seasonal trend direction, runway, social media, and retail reporting, collaborating with editorial and design teams to shape Walmart’s fashion direction
- Identify emerging fashion trends, synthesizing industry predictions into clear, solution-driven reports that drive product strategy.
- Partner with strategic trend agencies and leverage internal resources to enhance Walmart’s global fashion forecast.
- Develop trend storytelling roadmaps that bring Walmart’s fashion vision to life, ensuring alignment across apparel, footwear, and accessories.
Strategic Influence & Cross-Functional Partnership:
- Serve as a strategic partner to internal teams, influencing design, merchandising, and marketing through data-driven insights.
- Work closely with product development, editorial, and design teams to ensure consistency and alignment with global fashion strategies.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, process improvements, and best-practice scaling, keeping Walmart ahead of industry trends.
- Translate market research and consumer insights into trend-right product storytelling that resonates with Walmart’s diverse customer base.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Hire, develop, and manage a high-performing team of trend strategists to drive excellence in forecasting and creative direction.
- Provide ongoing mentorship, performance feedback, and career development, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Establish key performance metrics to evaluate department and individual contributions, ensuring efficiency and strategic impact.
- Lead with a "one company" mindset, building trust and driving results through influence, inspiration, and vision.

- Apply AI tools to synthesize runway, social, cultural, and retail data into cohesive visual forecasts that translate macro trends into commercially viable product direction.
- Can effectively communicate complex trend forecasts to cross-functional teams in a compelling way.
- Thrive in fast-paced environments and can seamlessly manage multiple seasons and categories.
- Are an excellent collaborator and influencer, building strong relationships across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Business or a related field is a plus.
- 7-10 years of experience in apparel trend forecasting, design, or related fields.
- Strong background in data analysis, storytelling, and strategic trend communication.
- Excellent presentation skills with experience speaking to executive leadership and product teams.
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, and experience with trend research platforms.
- Experience traveling to key domestic and international markets for research and industry insights.

The annual salary range for this position is $108,000.00 - $216,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
