OVERVIEW

Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Director, Social Media to join the Marketing teambased in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters.

Marc Jacobs is looking for a Social Lead to define the future of brand storytelling, cultural relevance, and social-driven commerce. You will operate at the intersection of editorial storytelling, content creation, platform strategy, and creator ecosystems. You have the instinct to spot cultural moments before they peak and the operational rigor to turn them into sustained brand momentum and business growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Cultural Leadership & Editorial Direction* Identify emerging trends, creator movements, aesthetics, and cultural shifts that can be authentically translated into brand storytelling.

  • Shape social beyond content feed and elevate editorial platform with a clear point of view, tone, and narrative arc.
  • Proactively ideate and execute cultural moments that earn organic attention and conversation with a focus on the product and Marc Jacobs brand.

Content Creation & Production* Lead fast, high-impact content production including short-form video, lo-fi creator-style formats, reactive moments, and trend-based storytelling.

  • Responsible for editing, directing, and hands-on content creation.
  • Strong network and experience building and managing creator-led production pipelines.
  • Build and manage a lean ecosystem of creators, editors, videographers, and freelance talent to scale output efficiently.

Platform Strategy* Own cross-platform strategy across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts/Reels, Redditt, sub stack, emerging platforms, and future formats.

  • Tailor creative approaches by platform, understanding algorithm behavior, native formats, and audience behavior.

Commerce & Performance Impact* Partner with E-commerce, CRM, and Media teams to continue building awareness and also turn social into agrowth driver.

  • Build strategies that drive traffic, conversion, retention, and product storytelling.
  • Establish performance benchmarks and continuously optimize creative against KPIs.

Creator & Influencer Partnership* Maintain deep knowledge of the creators, tastemakers, and digital communities shaping fashion, culture, and entertainment.

  • Build creator partnerships that are organic, culturally credible, and drive brand growth.
  • Spot emerging talent early and integrate them into storytelling.

Team Leadership* Build and lead a high-performance social team and effectively influence cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Create workflows that allow for speed, efficiency, experimentation, and creative excellence at scale.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience* 7–12+ years in social media leadership, digital content, editorial strategy, or cultural storytelling roles.

  • Proven experience leading social for a fashion, lifestyle, entertainment, or culturally driven brand.
  • Demonstrated track record of creating or leading cultural moments, viral content, or conversation-driving campaigns.

Creative & Cultural Expertise* Exceptional aesthetic sensibility and editorial judgment.

  • Deep understanding of internet culture, creator economy, and emerging digital movements.
  • Ability to translate cultural insights into brand-safe but culture-forward storytelling.

Production & Execution* Hands-on experience in short-form content production (editing, directing, filming, or managing creator pipelines).

  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced environments with minimal friction between idea and execution.

Analytical & Business Mindset* Strong understanding of social KPIs, platform analytics, and performance optimization.

  • Experience tying social activity to business outcomes including traffic, conversion, and community growth.

Leadership & Collaboration* Experience in leading teams and cross-functional partnerships.

  • Strong communicator with the ability to align creative ambition with business priorities.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The compensation for this position ranges from $180,000 - $190,000 annually. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience. Marc Jacobs uses the published salary range as a guideline to provide our employees with market competitive pay while allowing for flexibility to recognize and reward all levels of expertise, performance, and tenure.
