Position Overview
The Marketing team at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH), is looking for a curious, bright, and positive student to join the team for a summer experience within one of the largest art museums in the country. This team helps shape the Museum’s public image and creates brand messaging that ultimately drives attendance and revenue. This position will be part of an “always-on” marketing team that is collaborative, inventive, and detail-oriented.
Working in the rich environment of the MFAH means constantly being involved in exhibitions, events, and behind-the-scenes efforts. In order to be fully involved, some weekend and evening work would be expected. Therefore, the ideal Intern will need to be flexible on many levels.
Immersive Experience
This position is designed to immerse the student in every facet of marketing for the MFAH. Each of the 11 members of the team will share their areas of expertise in one-on-one sessions with the Intern. The team meets twice a week for round table updates and to create the overall production schedule that guides efforts.

- Creation of social media content for platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok
- This could include covering events at the main campus, or at the two house museums, Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, or Rienzi
- This could include interacting with influencers who have contracted with the Museum
- Escorting photographers for shoots inside the Museum
- On-site video production
- Creation of exhibition campaign plans

- It could include groundwork to capture advertising efforts
- Writing content for the website
- Writing content for the Museum’s branded emails
- Updating digital signage across the Museum using design software
- Working with graphic design on event materials
- Representing the team in various meetings
The Intern will be assigned to a fall or winter exhibition and will assist with developing a full campaign, including creation of a target audience, recommending a paid advertising campaign, choosing images and steering graphic design, as well as working on promotional events or social media possibilities.
