Job Summary
The Event and Catering Manager is a key leadership role responsible for driving revenue and delivering exceptional members and guest experiences through all catered functions, private events, weddings, social gatherings, corporate outings, and club sponsored programming. This position oversees the full event lifecycle, from sales and member consultation to creative planning, flawless execution, and post event follow-up, while maximizing banquet and catering revenue in a luxury private club environment.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic hospitality professional with strong sales acumen, deep knowledge of high-end catering and event production, and a passion for creating memorable experiences in a member focused service-oriented Florida country club setting.
Responsibilities
Sales & Revenue Generation
- Develop and pursue new business opportunities for private events, weddings, corporate functions, social gatherings, and golf/outdoor events (both member-sponsored and external).
- Manage and grow existing member and client accounts through proactive outreach, personalized service, and upselling opportunities.
- Create and present compelling event proposals, menus, pricing packages, and site tours that align with club standards and revenue goals.
- Achieve or exceed annual catering and events revenue budgets and key performance metrics.
Event Planning & Execution
- Oversee the complete planning, coordination, and execution of all club events, banquets, weddings, holiday parties, member socials, charity functions, corporate meetings, and golf-related events.
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef, Culinary team, and Beverage Manager to design innovative, seasonally appropriate menus and beverage programs tailored to member preferences and club standards.
- Manage event logistics including room set-ups, décor, audiovisual needs, entertainment, rentals, florals, lighting, and other vendor coordination.
- Ensure flawless on-site event execution, maintaining the highest standards of service, presentation, and guest satisfaction.
Team Leadership & Operations
- Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise the events and catering team (Event Managers, Captains, Banquet Servers, Setup Staff, etc.).
- Develop and maintain departmental operating procedures, checklists, BEOs (Banquet Event Orders), and quality control standards.
- Manage event scheduling, staffing forecasts, labor budgets, and inventory control for catering supplies and equipment.
- Partner with other departments (Director of Golf, Director of Marketing, Director of Golf Courses and Grounds, Director of Communications, Director of Membership,Accounting) to ensure seamless event delivery.
Member & Guest Relations
· Serve as the primary point of contact for members and external clients throughout the event planning process.
· Build strong, long-term relationships with members, wedding planners, corporate decision-makers, and community influencers.
· Conduct post-event evaluations and follow-up communications to drive repeat business and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
Financial & Administrative Oversight
· Prepare accurate event forecasts, budgets, and financial reports.
· Monitor banquet and catering profitability, food/beverage costs, and labor percentages.
· Negotiate vendor contracts and manage relationships with preferred suppliers.
· Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience
· Minimum 5 years of experience in high-volume catering and event management, preferably in a private country club, luxury hotel, resort, or upscale venue.
· Proven track record of meeting or exceeding catering revenue targets.
· Experience planning and executing large-scale weddings, galas, and corporate events is highly preferred.
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Event Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Skills & Competencies
· Exceptional sales, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
· Strong creative vision and attention to detail in event design and execution.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
· Proficiency with club management software (ideally Jonas, or similar), Microsoft Office, and event planning tools.
· In-depth knowledge of food & beverage trends, menu development, wine & spirits, and banquet operations.
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evening, weekend, and holiday availability.

Working Conditions

- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand/walk for extended periods.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
