We are a comprehensive obesity medicine practice led by a board-certified Obesity Medicine physician, dedicated to evidence-based, compassionate, and patient-centered care. Our work focuses on the medical, behavioral, and lifestyle treatment of obesity and metabolic disease. We prioritize education, trust, and ethical communication in everything we do—including how we show up online.

Position Overview

The Social Media Intern will support the practice’s digital presence by creating engaging, accurate, and professional content across social media platforms. This role is ideal for a student or early-career professional interested in healthcare, public health, nutrition, marketing, or digital media who wants hands-on experience in a medical setting.

You will work closely with the physician and practice team to translate evidence-based obesity care into accessible, informative, and patient-friendly content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and scheduling social media content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn
  • Develop captions, short-form videos, graphics, and stories that align with the practice’s voice and mission
  • Support educational content related to obesity medicine, nutrition, lifestyle change, and patient care (under physician guidance)
  • Monitor engagement, comments, and messages and flag items that require clinical or administrative follow-up
  • Help maintain a consistent brand identity and professional tone across platforms
  • Stay up to date on social media trends while ensuring content remains medically accurate and ethical
  • Assist with basic analytics and performance tracking
  • Collaborate on content calendars and campaign ideas

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in marketing, communications, public health, nutrition, healthcare, or a related field
  • Strong interest in healthcare, wellness, or obesity medicine
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and content trends
  • Basic graphic design or video editing skills (Canva, CapCut, Adobe, or similar tools preferred)
  • Organized, reliable, and able to meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working under guidance in a medical and professional environment

Preferred (But Not Required)

  • Experience managing social media accounts for a brand, organization, or personal project
  • Understanding of HIPAA, patient privacy, or medical ethics (training will be provided)
  • Interest in pursuing a career in healthcare, medicine, public health, or health communications

  • Use social media management tools like Hootsuite or Buffer to schedule posts, analyze performance metrics, and optimize content delivery.
  • Conduct keyword research and implement SEO best practices to improve content visibility and engagement.
  • Support in managing online reputation through public relations activities and timely responses to comments and messages.
  • Analyze web analytics and social media insights using Google Analytics and platform-specific tools to measure campaign effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Knowledge of Facebook Advertising for boosting posts and targeted campaigns.
  • Excellent relationship management skills for engaging with online communities and influencers.
  • Basic understanding of branding principless, and digital marketing concepts.
