Position Summary

The Audience Development Manager helps to ensure that JAWPA’s story reaches the right people, in the right way, at the right time. This role is for a passionate audience‑builder and brand storyteller who will be the person the engine behind our growth efforts and a key connector between our organization and the communities we serve.

This individual works closely with cross-functional teammates in a collaborative, fast-moving environment where priorities may shift to support programs, partners, and events. The ideal candidate is energized by creating content that resonates and building meaningful engagement across platforms. They understand how to grow audiences strategically while keeping our brand voice consistent, human, and compelling.

This role blends creativity, strategy, and hands‑on execution, from social media to newsletters, from partnership deliverables to customer inquiries. The ideal candidate will love building community, elevating brand visibility, and helping a mission‑driven organization expand its reach.

Key Responsibilities

Content Strategy & Audience Growth

· Develop and manage a forward‑thinking editorial calendar aligned with organizational goals and audience insights.

· Lead content creation across social media, newsletters, websites, and digital campaigns with a focus on expanding reach and engagement.

· Identify growth opportunities across platforms (emerging channels, new formats, partnerships, influencers, etc.).

· Ensure consistent, SEO‑optimized messaging and a cohesive brand voice across all channels.

· Monitor trends and platform updates to keep JA’s content strategy innovative and competitive.

Brand Visibility & Storytelling

· Uncover compelling stories within the organization and translate them into impactful content, thought leadership, and PR opportunities.

· Draft and edit news pieces, announcements, and messaging that promote JA’s mission and impact.

· Support PR and media relations efforts as needed.

Collaboration & Production

· Work closely with JA’s Design & Marketing Specialist, videographers, and external partners to produce visually engaging, multimedia‑rich content.

· Manage deliverables and timelines for internal and external collaborators.

· Assist in the planning and execution of JA events, ensuring content capture and post‑event storytelling.

Website Request Management & Customer Response

· Monitor all inbound requests submitted through the JA website.

· Triage requests by routing them to the appropriate staff members in a timely and organized manner.

· Respond directly to general inquiries, customer questions, and basic information requests using JA’s brand voice and messaging guidelines.

· Maintain a high standard of professionalism and customer experience in all communications.

· Track recurring questions or themes and share insights to improve website content, FAQs, and user experience.

Analytics & Optimization

· Track and analyze performance metrics across social media, email, and web to inform strategy and improve results.

· Prepare periodic reports and insights to guide decision‑making.

· Use data to test, refine, and optimize content for audience growth.

Additional Responsibilities

· Maintain awareness of all partnership‑related content commitments (e.g., social posts, blogs, newsletter mentions, logo placements, event promotions).

· Track deadlines, required assets, and fulfillment status in coordination with the Director of Communications & Marketing.

· Draft or prepare content tied to partnership deliverables and ensure it is completed on schedule.

· Contribute to message development and brand positioning projects.

· Assist in the execution of JA education experiences.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

· 3–5 years of experience in content marketing, digital marketing, or audience development.

· Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a portfolio demonstrating impact.

· Proven ability to work successfully and independently within cross-functional teams, often under demanding and/or changing deadlines.

· Proven experience growing social media audiences and improving engagement.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

· Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

· Cultural awareness and the ability to tailor content to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

· Knowledge of Adobe Suite and/or Canva.

· Proficiency in content management and social media tools like Meltwater or HubSpot.
