What will you be doing?
As a key member of the Marketing team, the Events and Community Engagement Specialist will lead the coordination and execution of events and tradeshows while owning community engagement initiatives. This role expands to include building and nurturing industry relationships, press partnerships, and while enhancing the company's social media channels to foster meaningful connections and amplify brand visibility. You'll create immersive experiences for clients, partners, and community members, driving engagement and growth through creative strategies, meticulous planning, and proactive outreach. This position demands a dynamic, self-motivated professional with strong interpersonal skills, creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A passion for the firearms industry and a willingness to travel are highly valued. Some of your day-to-day tasks?
Event Marketing & Action Target Events – 80%
- Lead the planning and coordination of various marketing events, including seminars, trainings, tradeshows, etc.
- Own event marketing through planning, promotions, booth layouts, designs, and Interactive experiences to engage attendees effectively.
- Research and identify suitable event venues, negotiate contracts, manage logistics, and oversee on-site execution to ensure seamless delivery.
- Support Sales and other teams with travel arrangements, shipping, show service ordering, and overall event management for large-scale initiatives.
- Help develop and track event budgets, tracking expenses to align with allocated funds and optimize ROI per event.
- Manage marketing materials and inventory such as collateral, swag, signage, booth assets, and interactive elements to enhance brand presence.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify new event opportunities that align with business goals, incorporating community feedback for relevance.
Community Engagement & Communications – 20%
- Build and maintain key industry and press relationships to secure media coverage, partnerships, and endorsements.
- Identify and foster connections with affiliates, influencers, thought leaders, and stakeholders to drive co-created content and joint initiatives that directly align with events and marketing goals.
- Help coordinate and cultivate industry relationships and VIP programs to expand networks and create industry collaborative opportunities and support.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create, curate, and schedule compelling social media content for events, community outreach, and press efforts to amplified reach, while ensuring consistency with brand voice and style guide.
What do you need to be able to do?
Education and Experience* Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field; alternatively, comparable relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, including proven success in managing events.
- Hands-on experience with social media management, online marketing tools, and community engagement platforms.
- Demonstrated track record in press media and relationship building, such as cultivating industry partnerships, VIP programs, or media collaborations.
Technical and Professional Skills
- Proficiency in social media channels, content creation tools, and analytics platforms to grow engagement, monitor performance, and optimize strategies.
- Strong knowledge of various content platforms (social media, blogs, websites) and the ability to evaluate and recommend emerging technologies for community and event promotion.
- Experience with graphic design or digital media tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus for creating marketing materials, booth designs, or social content.
- Excellent analytical and project management skills to handle budgets, logistics, multiple projects, and data-driven decision-making for events and campaigns.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including copywriting, press release drafting, and persuasive messaging that adheres to brand guidelines with error-free grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Editorial mindset focused on understanding audience preferences and creating compelling, tailored content for social platforms.
- Outstanding people skills for independently building and maintaining relationships with industry leaders, influencers, affiliates, partners, PR contacts, and community members. Experience in law enforcement or military positions is a significant plus, as it enhances engagement with target audiences and stakeholders.
- Active listening, conflict resolution, and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively across teams, gather feedback, and identify cross-functional opportunities.
