Description
The Social Media Coordinator supports the Leader’s strategic messaging by managing social media presence for caucus and members, developing social stories and strategy, producing quality content, analyzing and responding to usage data, and managing social media projects and social media campaigns. The role drives organic growth with strong content and curation and amplifies online support between members. The role utilizes budgeted paid media to uplift messaging across social channels.
This job may be eligible for telework opportunities. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Drive organic growth with strong content and curation in concert with paid media to achieve objectives. Grow and engage audiences through a mix of tools and tactics.
- Implement caucus messaging across social media platforms, through expert use of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, podcasts and embedded video, as well as other social tools.
- Manage member posts; work with LCO team leads to identify opportunities to provide deeper support to members. Ensure members’ policy focus aligns with social presence.
- Communicate with policy influencers via social media to create a strong network of support for Leadership and messaging. Build following, and continually identify new opportunities to build relationships online.
- Be the voice for how messaging is translated, repurposed and driven across multiple social channels to support the Strategic Communication Plan.
- Research and investigate new platforms and technologies for potential fit.
- Maintain social media content calendar and scheduling for multiple caucus accounts.
- Automate posts and adhere to posting schedule to ensure regular, current, systematized messaging across all social channels in keeping with the content calendar.
- Understand the interplay between paid media, social media, digital storytelling and analytics. Able to speak to the role of each in successful messaging.
- Curate local and national content that aligns with PA legislative issues and public policy.
- Identify and monitor competitor accounts and negative activity across caucus channels; with ability to redirect, respond/engage in a positive manner as warranted. Recognize red-flag chatter and when it may be necessary to coordinate with Legal/press secretary.
- Keep current with social trends and best practices.
Collaborative Project Management: Develop strategic direction from the Director, Digital Media & Analytics into plans that ensure message consistency and desired outcomes.* Works with content manager on digital storytelling ideas and short form stories for social.
- Works with DO&O to drive constituent services messaging in-district.
- Works with LCO team leads to support Members with unified messaging across channels.
- Works with outreach coordinator to more deeply extend messaging within communities.
- Works with digital analytics to ensure that insights are relevant, timely and inform next steps.
CRITICAL SKILLS AND APTITUDE* Expert level use of Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, embedded video. Mid-level use of Snapchat, Quora or other platforms.
- Strong knowledge of Buffer, HootSuite, Tweet Deck and Sprout Social.
- Deep familiarity with paid social media, including how to buy and optimize social campaigns and content.
- Ability to translate broad and complex ideas and concepts into clear and compelling communications, with demonstrated ability to write for diverse audiences in digital formats.
- Perpetual learning, for seeking out new ways to drive social as a primary messaging tool.
- Maintaining continual awareness of legislation and policy issues.
- Strong analytical skills, as well as the ability to think creatively/conceptually, and effectively interact with individuals at all levels across the Caucus.
- Strong project management skills.
- Collaborative, resourceful, excellent with detail.
Due to messaging needs and session calendar, occasional work outside of business hours may be requested and comped.
Requires onsite support of team members, staff, and Members, especially during Session. Session essential employees must be physically present at the worksite on Session Days. Minimum Qualifications
Education AND Experience* Associates in Social Marketing, Digital Media, Communications or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience that combines public policy and digital communications is also acceptable.
- Four years of experience.
- SEO experience is a big plus.
- Interest in/understanding of state/national government, legislation or public policy is also a plus.
