Marketing coordinator
Part-time
Brooklyn, NY, US (Remote)
$20/h - $25/h
About the job
We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on Marketing and Community Manager to serve as the voice, strategist, and digital architect for the Rustik Collective—our three interconnected Brooklyn businesses: Rustik Tavern, Rustik Navy Yard, and Rustik Smokes. This role is the linchpin that unifies our brand story of community and hospitality across food, beverage, and cannabis. The ideal candidate is equal parts creative storyteller, data-driven strategist, and neighborhood connector.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a unified marketing calendar across social media, email, SMS, and local channels.
- Create compelling content (photo, video, copy) that reflects each business’s unique personality while strengthening the overall brand.
- Manage all community engagement, responding to reviews, DMs, and comments with Rustik’s signature hospitality.
- Implement and manage the “Rustik Inner Circle” loyalty program and CRM strategy.
- Plan and promote events, workshops, and partnerships that deepen local ties.
- Track KPIs and provide weekly/monthly reports on campaign performance.
- Ensure all marketing for Rustik Smokes adheres strictly to NY State cannabis compliance regulations.
Required Qualifications & Experience1. Hard Skills & Experience
- 3-5 years of hands-on marketing experience, preferably in hospitality, retail, or lifestyle brands. Multi-location experience is a huge plus.
- Portfolio Required: Must show proven ability in:
- Content Creation: Photography (iPhone pro acceptable), basic video shooting/editing (Reels, TikTok), and graphic design (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Copywriting: Ability to write in distinct brand voices—from tavern warmth to discerning cannabis education.
- Platform Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Klaviyo). Basic knowledge of scheduling tools (Later, Hootsuite).
- Analytics: Ability to interpret social/email insights and Google Analytics to inform strategy.
- Non-Negotiable: Demonstrated knowledge of cannabis marketing compliance (NY State regulations highly preferred). Must understand dos/don'ts regarding claims, targeting, and mandatory disclaimers.
- Event Marketing: Experience planning and promoting events from concept to execution.
2. Soft Skills & Mindset
- Community-Obsessed: A natural connector who understands Brooklyn neighborhood culture (Bed-Stuy/Fort Greene/Navy Yard a plus). Loves talking to people, online and off.
- Hospitality Heart: Embodies the service mindset. Sees every customer interaction as a chance to build a relationship.
- Vertical Integrator: Can seamlessly switch contexts between fine-dining promotions, casual bar vibes, and nuanced cannabis education without losing the core brand thread.
- Proactive & Agile: A self-starter who can plan quarterly but pivot daily. Thrives in a fast-paced, wearing-many-hats environment.
- Extreme Organization: Must manage multiple calendars, assets, and deadlines across three distinct businesses without dropping balls.
- Creative Problem-Solver: Can produce high-quality content on a budget and find innovative ways to engage the community.
3. Cultural Fit
- Must believe deeply in the power of local community.
- Comfortable and respectful working within the regulated cannabis industry.
- Passionate about food, beverage, and/or cannabis culture not just as products, but as experiences.
- Team player who can collaborate with chefs, general managers, and budtenders to tell their stories authentically.
Bonus Points For
- Existing network or relationships with Brooklyn influencers, media, or community organizations.
- Personal interest in cannabis wellness or culinary arts.
- Experience with loyalty program software or basic CRM management.
- Basic SEO knowledge for local search (Google Business Profile optimization).

- Growth of the “Rustik Inner Circle” loyalty program and email/SMS lists.
- Measurable increase in cross-business visitation (tracked via promo codes).
- Successful execution of 4 major events (4/20, Block Party, etc.) with positive turnout and feedback.
- Zero compliance violations for Rustik Smokes marketing.
- Strengthened online reputation (review ratings, sentiment).
Why This Role is Unique
This isn't a typical corporate marketing job. You will be the chief storyteller for a Brooklyn micro-empire. You’ll spend your days shooting a new cocktail at the Navy Yard, interviewing a cultivator at Smokes, and planning a neighborhood block party—all while building a loyal digital community. Your work will have a direct, visible impact on the success of three small businesses and the people who love them.
