Position Summary
The Development Coordinator plays a key role in advancing Able’s mission through the coordination of fundraising initiatives, donor engagement efforts, and community-facing events, thereby expanding Able’s visibility and amplifying the organization’s public presence. This position blends strategy, creativity, and relationship-building to support the organization’s growth and sustainability through revenue development. The ideal candidate is a compelling communicator, detail-oriented planner, and passionate advocate for disability inclusion.
This position executes critical functions related to development, fundraising, and community engagement. The ideal candidate is a confident communicator and strategic thinker who enjoys building meaningful connections for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Donor & Development Support
● Secure new leads through community facing events (Info. Fairs, Grand Openings etc).
● Maintain accurate donor records and communications using the organization’s CRM.
● Support donor stewardship activities including thank-you letters, recognition, and impact updates.
● Support Development Manager with Monthly giving program – develop a sustainable recurring donor base, as well as legacy and planned giving development.
● Assist with internal reporting and development-related communications.
Events & Community Engagement Support
● Support fundraising and outreach events in collaboration with the Development Manager
● Serve as a point of contact for event partners, vendors, and participants.
● Support campaign development, donor appeals, and creative fundraising initiatives.
● Support efforts to strengthen brand visibility and community presence.
● Grow and maintain relationships with media outlets, influencers, and key stakeholders.
● Support and implement strategies for storytelling, social media, and press outreach.
● Represent Able at community events, conferences, and strategic engagements.
Grant Research & Writing
● As directed by Development Manager, research grant opportunities aligned with mission.
● Draft compelling proposals and required reports for Development Manager’s review .
● Maintain a system for tracking deadlines including required reporting.
Peer-to-Peer Fundraising
● Design and implement Peer-to-Peer fundraising campaigns
● Provide participants with materials and sample messages to help engage their networks.
● Incorporate Peer-to-Peer in annual events or awareness days to expand reach/donors.
● Track engagement and recognize fundraisers through awards and shout-outs.
● Evaluate campaign performance, refine strategies and identify major donor prospects.
Volunteer Coordinating
● Develop a year-round volunteer recruitment strategy to attract individuals and groups.
● Create clear role descriptions for both event-based and ongoing volunteer opportunities, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.
● Manage volunteer lifecycle from onboarding and training to scheduling and recognition, fostering a positive and rewarding volunteer experience.
Other Duties as Assigned
● Perform additional duties related to development, fundraising, marketing, events, or community engagement as assigned to support organizational needs, strategic initiatives, and the overall mission of Able.
Preferred Qualifications
● Prior experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, marketing, or community engagement.
● Experience supporting or coordinating fundraising events and campaigns.
● Familiarity with donor databases/CRMs (DonorPerfect, Salesforce, Bloomerang, etc.).
● Experience with social media, storytelling, or basic marketing communications.
● Grant research or grant writing experience.
● Lived or professional experience supporting individuals with disabilities or community-based services.
Licenses, Certifications & Insurance Requirements
● Valid California Driver’s License required.
● Proof of current automobile insurance meeting California minimum coverage requirements is required.
● Must maintain a driving record acceptable to Able’s insurance carrier.
● Position requires regular local travel to community events, meetings, and outreach activities.

Language Skills:
● Ability to read, interpret, and write business correspondence, reports, and procedure manuals.
● Ability to communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and the general public.
● Bilingual skills (Spanish, Hmong, Filipino, etc.) are an asset.
Mathematical Skills:
● Ability to perform basic calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
● Competency in handling U.S. currency and basic measurements.
Reasoning Ability:
● Ability to solve problems, analyze data, and draw conclusions in varied situations.
● Capable of interpreting written, oral, diagram, and schedule instructions.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Physical Requirements:
● Regularly required to walk, sit, stand, use hands, talk, and hear.
● Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
● May need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Work Environment:
● Primarily office or event-based with minimal exposure to mechanical equipment or hazardous conditions.
● Noise level is generally quiet to moderate.
