Purpose:

The Brand Manager for If You Care (IYC) is responsible for driving brand growth and consumer demand by leading brand strategy, communications, and portfolio management. This role manages and executes short- and long-term brand growth roadmaps, ensuring consistent positioning, messaging, and consumer engagement across all touchpoints. Partnering closely with Sales, Supply Chain, and Shopper Marketing, the Brand Manager acts as the brand’s central owner—building awareness, driving purchase intent, and sales.

Essential Job Functions:

Brand Management & Strategy:

  • Develop and execute the annual brand growth plan tied to business goals to drive sales.
  • Manage brand positioning, messaging, and value proposition across all consumer touchpoints.
  • Manage brand architecture and portfolio, including SKU rationalization and prioritization of core vs. niche SKUs.
  • Conduct competitive and category analysis; monitor consumer behavior and market shifts to inform brand choices.
  • Translate consumer insights into product, communication, innovation, and marketing decisions.
  • Oversee product launches, and line extensions, including go-to-market planning, launch communications, and cross-channel rollout.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Graphic Design to project manage packaging changes.

Marketing Communications & PR:

  • Help develop and directly manage the brand communications and media strategy, including annual marketing plans, integrated campaigns, and storytelling.
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for external agencies, managing workflows, status meetings, feedback cycles, and ongoing performance to ensure seamless execution.
  • Manage public relations, influencer strategy (organic + partnerships), and brand partnerships to amplify brand voice and optimize spend.
  • Oversee performance marketing across paid digital channels (search, social, programmatic, affiliate, PR amplification):
  • Work with agency to develop media mix strategy tied to awareness, engagement, and conversion goals.
  • Manage media budgets and allocate spend efficiently across channels.
  • Monitor performance dashboards and KPIs.
  • Partner with agencies or internal resources to continuously optimize campaigns.
  • Use performance insights to refine messaging, content, and audience targeting.
  • Report ROI and optimization recommendations to leadership.
  • Oversee content strategy (themes, editorial calendars, quarterly pillars) across owned, earned, and paid channels.
  • Direct creative asset development (photo, video, design), leveraging agencies and external partners as needed.
  • Ensure brand identity and messaging remain consistent across all touchpoints.

Shopper Marketing Collaboration:

  • Provide strategic direction to ensure retail activations support IYC brand strategy.
  • Partner with sales agencies, and Shopper Marketing to align in-store, retailer media, and e-commerce activations with brand priorities.
  • Review and approve shopper marketing plans, ensuring brand consistency and retail excellence.

Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure feasibility and timely execution of initiatives.
  • Act as the internal brand champion and “voice of the consumer”, ensuring cross-functional alignment to brand guardrails and priorities.
  • Coordinate with agencies, vendors, and external partners to maximize brand performance.

Analytics & Insights:

  • Monitor and measure brand health and equity (awareness, perception, consideration, loyalty).
  • Track and analyze marketing KPIs, ROI, and consumer metrics, reporting insights and recommendations to Brand leadership.
  • Use syndicated data (Circana and Spins) and internal analytics to refine strategies and guide resource allocation.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • 4-7 years in brand management, marketing, or CPG, with proven success in building and growing brands (emerging brand/startup experience preferred)

Technical Skills:

  • Strong brand strategist with ability to integrate consumer insights, category trends, and business goals.
  • Proven track record managing consumer brands, product launches, and integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Proven track record of driving performance marketing results across paid channels (search, social, programmatic, etc.).
  • Experience leading agencies—including managing day-to-day workflows, status meetings, deliverables, and performance—across PR, influencer, and partnership strategies.
  • Ability to guide shopper marketing and ensure brand consistency across retail channels.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, performance metrics, and consumer insights to inform decision-making; advanced Excel skills a must.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to deliver clear, compelling executive-level presentations.
  • Highly collaborative, strong team player, entrepreneurial, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment where process is not always defined.

  • Demonstrated problem solver with ability to anticipate challenges, identify solutions, and make trade-offs in a resource-constrained environment.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders.

Demands/Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit and work from a computer in a remote setting for an extended period.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
