JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Communications Manager

Department: West Orange Operations

Supervision: N/A

Status: Exempt – full time

POSITION PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Manager is responsible for managing the flow of information and communication between WOHFH, its employees, and the public to educate the community, increase awareness and engagement, and stimulate fundraising and volunteerism.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Ensure employees are aware of organizational changes, projects, use of branding strategies and communications’ coaching, through presentations, memorandums, or conducting meetings.

· Creation of content including compelling messaging to promote WOHFH brand and drive engagement. This may include digital, video, audio and print content.

· Development and management of communications materials including press releases, newsletter, brochures, websites, and social media accounts ensuring that all materials align with the organizations brand and communications guidelines on policies or positions on issues.

· Management of media relations with journalists, bloggers, influencers, and other media members and may also act as the organization’s primary media contact at events.

· Lead a team of volunteer communications, marketing and design professionals as needed ensuring that team members follow proper messaging techniques before publishing materials.

· Track engagement across various platforms and use data to make decisions.

· Regular, dependable attendance is required.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Storage of all media, data, records, passwords, visuals/brochures and critical information for the organization in a shared space as it relates to communications.

· Maintain a database of media organizations and contents within them.

· Write press releases/media advisories, pitch stories, and coordinate media interviews.

· Regularly meet with and conduct interviews with constituents and media personnel.

· Provide relevant content to social media networking sites, and monitor/report on the effectiveness of social media efforts.

· Serve as content administrator for the WOH4H website, internal and external newsletters, and other types of content that take the message to the public.

· Provide administrative tasks and services to all departments by drafting or copy-editing print collateral (direct mail, invitations, signage) and electronic material (website images, infographics, web ads).

· Create and oversee management of web tools and programs to ensure clear messaging and consistent branding across all communication platforms.

· Perform data entries to regularly update information in databases.

· Serve as a staff photographer and maximize the use of still photography to share the Habitat Story and Mission as a means to communicate impact.

· Provide marketing support for all house sponsorships, events, and campaigns.

· Serve as the WOH4H representative on the Marketing Committee.

· Support the ReStore Manager in advertising and marketing initiatives.

· Assist with the transition to a SalesForce database.

· Perform other duties as may be assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience:

· Associate’s Degree and/or demonstrated experience in communications, marketing, media relations, or public relations and some nonprofit and/or volunteer management experience – or equivalent.

· Experience in photography/videography, graphic design, social media, press, print and website content writing and management.

Preferred Experience:

· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

· Experience in nonprofit communications using WIX, Canva, MailChimp, EventBrite, and Salesforce.

· Strong writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.

· Experience supervising or managing volunteers.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS

· Valid Florida Driver’s License

· Dependable transportation

· Satisfactory driving record

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This individual will be expected to sit frequently, with the physical demands typical of an office/administrative-type work environment. Occasional travel may also be required.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
