Position Summary Position Summary The Technical Specialist Lead – IBM MQ/IIB/ACE Administrator (Digital and IT Technical Specialist - Lead) is a key influencer of the strategy and roadmap for Parker’s Global integration platforms. As part of Enterprise Data Center Operations and in partnership with Corporate IT, this role leads the design, implementation, and operations of secure, resilient, and scalable integrations across our environments, establishing standards and automation while driving continuous improvement in reliability, performance, and observability. The specialist works directly with project leads and technical/business analysts on planning, execution, and support, and collaborates with the Enterprise Manager to set departmental goals and technology targets.
Responsibilities Essential Functions
- Senior Advisor, Integration Software—ensuring reliable, cost-effective integrations that deliver clear business results
- Shapes the integration strategy and roadmap; partners with enterprise and global IT leaders to set goals for these platforms
- Anticipates needs for capacity, security, and system design; recommends and leads changes across global environments
- Works with project leaders and analysts to plan, deliver, and support solutions; applies broad experience to achieve secure, stable outcomes.
- Demonstrates strong people skills and organisational awareness when coordinating across teams, handling incidents, and engaging stakeholders.
- Investigates and resolves complex messaging and data flow issues; leads quick, decisive fixes.
- Designs and operates solutions with a focus on ROI and practical business value (e.g., consolidation, licensing, automation, high availability/disaster recovery).
- Builds trust by explaining complex integration concepts in clear, non‑technical language for business partners.
- Expert in the full IT delivery lifecycle: design, build, test, release, and ITIL‑aligned change/incident/problem management.
- Translates business needs into secure, reliable ways for systems to connect and share information across on‑premises and hybrid setups.
- Provides regional/global support across multiple operating systems and container platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, and visibility.
- Partners with business units on modernisation and cloud connectivity, including migration strategies.
- Develops cost/benefit analyses and recommends improvements to processes and services.
- Tailors’ communication to the audience; delivers clear runbooks, diagrams, and executive summaries.
- Communicates issues, risks, and action plans to project teams and leadership with clear ownership and timelines.
- Provides after‑hours on‑call support for critical services
Qualifications Qualifications and Experience
- Install, configure, and administer IBM MQ (including Managed File Transfer), IBM Integration Bus (IIB), and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE).
- Strong working knowledge of AIX, Linux, Windows, IBM z/OS, and IBM i.
- Preferred experience deploying IBM MQ and ACE on Red Hat OpenShift
- Proficiency with MQ and ACE administration and observability tools (e.g., MQ Explorer, App Connect Dashboard/Toolkit)
- 4-year University / College Degree and significant technical / business certifications
- Eight or more years’ experience in Information Technology
- Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to maintain professional and strong relationships with business partners, contractors, and stakeholders
- Demonstrate Agile methodologies and can apply those processes to everyday work
- Experience in security best practices and compliancy requirements for area of expertise
