Position Summary:

NJIT is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Senior Social Media Coordinator who will serve as the voice of NJIT across social platforms, capturing and sharing the stories, achievements, and experiences that define our vibrant community and bring our brand stories to life across digital platforms.

This role combines strategy with creativity, and is ideal for someone who thrives in both planning, creating and executing. The Social Media & Content Creator will work with the Director of Marketing, Digital Marketing Manager and Video Producer(s) to manage NJIT’s social media presence, lead content creation efforts, and design engaging visuals that connect with our various audiences.

Essential Functions:

Social Media Management

  • Develop, manage, and maintain the social media content calendar for NJIT’s social platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
  • Plan, schedule, and publish content that aligns with key initiatives, campaigns, and events. Experience with Loomly is preferred.
  • Write engaging captions and ensure brand voice consistency across all channels.
  • Monitor analytics and performance metrics to optimize content and inform future strategies.
  • Engage with followers, respond to messages, and help build an authentic online community.
  • The social media & content coordinator will curate existing content by reading and evaluating articles, news stories and videos to ensure the continuous flow of new, exciting and relevant content across all channels.

Content Creation

  • Conceptualize, capture, edit and schedule high-quality photo and video content for social media campaigns.
  • Maintain brand consistency, while optimizing for specific channels and platforms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, current students, alumni, professors and other audiences to create content that aligns with marketing goals and initiatives.
  • Utilize Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, CapCut to create and edit engaging content.

Strategy & Reporting

  • Support the development and execution of social media and digital marketing strategies by tracking engagement, follower growth, and campaign performance.
  • Prepare regular reports with insights and recommendations.
  • Stay current with social trends, platform updates, and creative best practices.
  • Reconciling invoices and receipts for paid social media advertising campaigns.

Prerequisite Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Design, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing.
  • Strong photography and videography skills (portfolio requested).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Lightroom), Canva, CapCut, OpusAI, Loomly and Drupal.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and analytics tools.
  • Excellent storytelling, writing, and design skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable interacting and engaging with various groups to film content, such as students, professors, business leaders, alumni, athletics and other groups.
  • At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with motion graphics or animation.
  • Familiarity with SEO, paid social, or influencer marketing.
  • Familiar with Drupal, website CMS platforms creation, and CRMs (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Slate).
  • HTML5 proficiency is preferred.

Salary Information:

In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated annual salary range for this position is $63,129.05- $97,867.98 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
