The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing both long- and short-term publicity and social media campaigns — including writing, pitching, event coverage, and managing communications — that support the mission of Community Cooperative: to eliminate hunger and homelessness in Southwest Florida while inspiring and supporting sustained positive change in the lives of those we serve. This role helps advance the mission through impactful communication and outreach initiatives that engage volunteers, donors, and the community at large.

Working collaboratively across all departments, this role creates compelling, mission-driven content that enhances engagement with volunteers, donors, and the broader community while generating positive public relations opportunities for the organization. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will help execute integrated marketing campaigns, communications strategies, and data-driven reports to evaluate progress toward advancing Community Cooperative’s mission and recruiting new volunteers and supporters.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain organization within the department by monitoring media coverage, updating tracking documents, maintaining media clippings, and sharing notable coverage with other departments.
  • Create and collaborate on monthly, quarterly, and annual communications activity and media reports.
  • Support traditional media relations - collaborate with subject matter experts to research and draft public relations materials including press releases, media alerts, calendar announcements, pitch messages, bios, media lists, statements, and talking points; circulate appropriately for approvals and social media distribution.
  • Update Community Cooperative media kit and identify when revisions are needed.
  • Assist the team with managing external PR counsel partners and help prepare and train key staff and volunteers for media opportunities.
  • Build rapport with media partners, journalists, and influencers to secure coverage for initiatives, events, awareness campaigns, grants, and other projects. Co-maintain influencer and media lists.

· Attend events to assist with various functions, including coordinating event photo/video contractors, facilitating media and social media coverage, and supporting overall event operations.

· Update the organization’s website as needed to promote upcoming events, news, and initiatives, ensuring all content is current, accurate, and aligned with Community Cooperative’s brand and mission.

  • Develop publicity copy for internal use, including website content, e-newsletter, social media, and scripts, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences (internal, external, media, donors, etc.)
  • Stay informed on current events, trends and news stories in local and national media that can be leveraged to elevate Community Cooperative’s brand, pillar work, events, and initiatives.

· Work closely with the Development and Community Relations team to plan, create, and execute communications and marketing campaigns across various channels (web, email, social media, etc.); collaborate with designers and subject matter experts to produce relevant content that meets stakeholder and audience needs.

  • Deliver regular insight reports, including monthly updates, quarterly summaries, media coverage reports, and year-end analyses.
  • Research and maintain an updated calendar of external events.
  • Contribute to maintaining PR & communications calendars and keep the communications team informed of notable events, updates and changes.

Education, Training, Experience and Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field preferred.

· One or more years of experience in content creation, copywriting, or supporting Public Relations, Social Media, or Marketing functions.

· Familiarity with advanced social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office 365 (including Excel, Outlook, and Teams), and working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, and Canva

· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

· Passion for Community Cooperative’s mission and the people we serve.

· Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.

· Ability to work in a drug-free environment.

· Ability to work outside for events.

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: From $19.00 per hour
