This is an exciting opportunity for a creative book lover who lives and breathes Internet culture. Book of the Month is seeking a Social Media Manager who is equal parts content strategist and community builder, with a sharp editorial eye and a deep understanding of social platforms. This role sits at the intersection of creative, strategy, and marketing, leading the development and execution of a thoughtful social content strategy that drives business growth while elevating our brand presence.
What You’ll Do…
- Content Creation & Strategy
- Work closely with the Creative Marketing Director to shape and optimize a thoughtful social content strategy through testing formats, series, and storytelling approaches.
- Own and manage the social media editorial calendar across all platforms.
- Concept, create, and publish high-impact, platform-native content for TikTok, Instagram (Reels, Stories, Feed, threads), YouTube Shorts, and emerging channels.
- Act as a curator of culture, staying attuned to new ideas, broader trends, and industry shifts, and translating insights into smart, on-brand BOTM content.
- Manage the briefing process with content creators and internal designers to produce content that meaningfully connects with our audience, measured by strong attention metrics (likes, comments, views, etc).
- Write clever, engaging captions that consistently reflect BOTM’s brand voice and point of view.
- Stay closely aligned with upcoming campaign strategies and book releases to identify and deliver impactful ways to translate core messaging across social channels.
- Present monthly performance reports with clear insights and actionable recommendations.
- Community Management
- Lead daily community engagement across all channels, including comments, tags, hashtags, and paid social comments.
- Humanize the brand by fostering thoughtful, brand-aligned conversations with our audience.
- Identify, celebrate, and reshare standout UGC and influencer content.
- Develop creative ways to deepen community participation and strengthen brand affinity.
- Events, Influencers & Partnerships
- Plan and execute co-branded and BOTM-led giveaways, challenges, and community moments.
- Partner with the paid social team on UGC and influencer collaborations that drive reach and engagement.
- Represent BOTM at industry events, capturing BTS content and brand moments.

- You’re highly creative, with a constant stream of original ideas, and you’re comfortable pitching, refining and executing them.
- You’re fluent in the nuances of each platform and have an intuitive sense for what our audience wants to see, share, and discuss.
- You’re a strong communicator with a sharp sense of humor and confident point of view.
- You can adapt your creative approach and communication style to capture and uphold a distinct brand voice.
- You have exceptional taste and a strong editorial eye, with a clear instinct for what content or aesthetics will resonate with the Book of the Month audience.
- You analyze content performance and propose smart, creative ways to improve future results.
- You generate compelling insights and translate them into creative concepts and content ideas.
- You thrive in collaboration and enjoy working with other creatives to unlock business goals.
- You’re deeply engaged with internet culture, creator ecosystems, and books, understanding how culture and storytelling intersect..
- You’re willing to push creative boundaries and take thoughtful risks to elevate the brand.
- You’re interested in eCommerce, Direct to Consumer, and/or the book business.
- You are focused, organized, and manage your time efficiently.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000
