Position Overview

The Business Development Specialist will support the Vice President/General Manager in generating leads, tracking opportunities, and assisting with outreach efforts across all market sectors in the Southeast Region. This role focuses on helping identify potential clients, supporting relationship-building activities, and coordinating materials and information needed for pursuit efforts. The Business Development Specialist will work closely with market sector leaders, the executive team, and the Marketing Department while representing Elford professionally in the marketplace.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Assists in executing the business development plan to help acquire new business within the Southeast Region market sectors.
  2. Supports market sector leaders in developing and maintaining external relationships.
  3. Helps research, identify, and track potential project leads and gathers contact information for appropriate client representatives.
  4. Coordinates initial outreach to identified leads, schedules introductory meetings, and support follow-up activities in partnership with local leadership.
  5. Enters, updates, and maintains lead information using Elford’s designated database/CRM system.
  6. Monitors basic industry news and market trends to support sector awareness.
  7. Maintains organized records of client, consultant, and industry influencer contacts and interactions.
  8. Participates in internal BD meetings and other relevant team discussions.
  9. Attends industry networking events as appropriate and represent Elford in a professional manner.
  10. Supports efforts to identify opportunities for conferences, networking events, and speaking engagements.
  11. Collaborates with the Marketing Department on qualification packages, proposals, and interview materials as needed.
  12. Provides administrative and logistical support for business development activities, including budgeting inputs and tracking.
  13. Assists in identifying opportunities to strengthen partnerships and explore potential service offerings.
  14. Occasional travel required.

Education/Training

• BS or BA degree preferred (or equivalent experience)

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience, preferably in the Construction industry or in a similar role preferred.

• Previous business development, marketing, or client-facing work is a plus.

• Basic analytical skills and comfort interpreting simple data or reports
