Position Summary

The Territory Manager is responsible for driving sales growth and profitability within an assigned geographic territory or customer segment. This role builds and maintains strong customer relationships, identifies new business opportunities, and delivers tailored solutions aligned with client needs. As a trusted advisor and product expert, the Territory Manager provides consultative support, training, and guidance to enhance customer satisfaction, foster loyalty, and support long-term partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze assigned territory and customer base to assess revenue potential, credit standing, operational structure, and vendor relationships; prioritize accounts and allocate time based on opportunity mapping.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and influencers by actively listening, observing, and understanding customer needs and business drivers.
  • Employ a consultative sales approach to recommend products and services that address customer challenges while aligning with company profitability goals; clearly articulate the value proposition of proposed solutions.
  • Support customers throughout the buying process, offering expert guidance, timely follow-up, and responsive service to drive satisfaction and successful outcomes.
  • Assist customers with sales forecasting and planning activities to support their business objectives and purchasing strategy.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to establish and adjust sales goals and territory strategies based on performance data and evolving market conditions.
  • Maintain consistent contact with customers to review account performance, provide updates on new offerings, and share insights on industry trends and supplier programs.
  • Function as a liaison between customers and internal branch teams to ensure clear communication regarding product options, pricing structures, and service expectations.
  • Proactively respond to leads, opportunities, and concerns generated by internal teams, ensuring timely resolution and customer support
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving service issues or customer concerns, maintaining a focus on responsiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Analyze customer activity and account health, including sales trends, margins, purchasing behavior, and receivables performance.
  • Prepare and submit regular planning, activity, and performance reports to the Sales Director.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market dynamics, competitor offerings, and product developments through training, internal resources, and self-directed learning.
  • Maintain focus on achieving company strategic initiatives and individual sales objectives.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Required:

  • A High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Two years of successful direct sales experience is required.

Preferred:

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, sales, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum four to five years of experience in sales, account management, or related field is preferred.
