Position Summary

The Senior Market Research Analyst plays a critical role in guiding the organization's strategic, product, and commercial decisions through advanced market intelligence, understating critical technologies, and competitive analysis. This role requires 10+ years of experience analyzing telecom markets, broadband infrastructure trends, AI/Data Center market trends, global competitors, cost structures, and customer segments. The Senior Analyst will synthesize complex data into high-impact insights that influence executive decision-making, product and process roadmaps, pricing strategy, and long-range planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct deep analysis of global telecommunications trends, broadband infrastructure trends, AI/Data Center market trends, with emphasis on emerging technologies.
  • Participate in and influence Standards Organizations for the benefit of Lightera. Present papers and represent Lightera on panel discussions at conferences.
  • Analyze mega trends and identify technology shifts and emerging innovations that may impact product strategy and manufacturing investments.
  • Develop robust analyses of competitor portfolios, pricing, supply chain strategies, and technology capabilities.
  • Track global competitive threats including foreign low-cost manufacturers and new technology entrants.
  • Collaborate with Product Line Management and R+D to identify global product opportunities and technology gaps.
  • Evaluate product lifecycle stages and recommend refresh, redesign, or discontinuation strategies.
  • Provide market insights for M&A evaluations,
  • Develop beneficial relationships with industry influencers.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Economics, Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, or relevant science or engineering field is required.
  • Master's degree, MBA, or advanced technical training strongly preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years of market research, business intelligence, product analysis, or strategy experience.
  • Significant experience in telecommunications, broadband, fiber optics, wireless markets.

Skills & Competencies

  • Expert-level analytical skills; proficiency with advanced Excel, Power BI/Tableau, SQL, or statistical tools.
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and oral, including the ability to present insights to executives, customers, and trade/technical conferences.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional research initiatives and influence decisions using data.
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently.

Working Conditions

  • Remote with occasional on-site based on business needs.
  • Occasional travel for trade shows, customer visits, or industry events (20-25%).
