For 30 years now, Living Advantage, Inc., a 501(c)3, has been dedicated to helping at-risk youth. From the beginning, the mission was to provide housing, therapeutic treatment, educational support, and independent living skills to wards of the court in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. After 11 successful years, LA, Inc. aimed for a larger social problem to address—foster youth.
This versatile role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with individual and corporate donors, developing personalized communication strategies, leveraging media channels, and increasing donations. Responsibilities include public relations, marketing, fundraising, corporate donor relations, celebrity outreach, media relations, community outreach, and event planning. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker passionate about relationship building and driving engagement to support our mission.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive PR and marketing strategies to enhance the organization’s visibility and reputation.
- Create and distribute press releases, newsletters, and marketing materials.
- Create public service announcements (PSAs).
- Develop and maintain relationships with corporate partners, ensuring ongoing engagement and support.
- Create and manage fundraising campaigns and initiatives to meet financial goals.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including corporate partners, individual donors, and community leaders.
- Identify and engage celebrities and influencers to support the organization’s events and campaigns.
- Coordinate and manage celebrity appearances and endorsements.
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists to secure coverage of the organization’s activities and events.
- Develop and pitch story ideas to local, national, and international media.
- Handle media inquiries and act as the organization’s spokesperson when necessary.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events and community outreach programs.
- Foster relationships with community organizations and partners to enhance outreach efforts.
- Coordinate community outreach activities to raise awareness and support for the organization’s mission.
Qualifications:
- 3 year minimum experience in media/PR experience
- Knowledge of Wix Editor, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube
- Design skills with Canva
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shift
- Some evening networking events and some Saturdays required
