The Department of Theatre at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applicants for a Full-Time Lecturer (3-Year contract) with a concentration in Acting and New Media beginning August 10, 2026. The position will help design curriculum and courses to prepare the next generation of cross-trained theatre practitioners as actors, performers, voiceover artists, editors, content creators, social media film/reel-makers, and new media producers. Geared toward equipping students for career readiness, the new position will focus on performance, practice and creation: on stage, on camera, in the voice studio, in immersive theatre/performance practice, and on new and emerging digital platforms, with a special emphasis on content creation and entrepreneurship. We expect this position to be pivotal in the ongoing cross-disciplinary collaboration and teaching within the theatre core or General Education curriculum as needed. The anticipated workload for this position is the equivalent of a 4-4 course work with the possibility of course releases for service to the department, college or university and/or for production responsibilities.
Required Qualifications

- A proven knowledge of contemporary acting methodologies and practices such as Stanislavsky, Boal, Meisner, Viewpoints, Luckett Paradigm, SoulWorks, Chekhov, Hagen, among others.
- An MFA in Theatre Performance, Acting, or Directing (or)
- A terminal degree in a Communications-related or New Media-adjacent area
- Experience as a performer/actor/director/producer for the stage, camera, microphone, and/or other emergent New Media and content creation platforms
- Demonstrate a potential to create and teach acting for the camera, commercial voiceover, and other new and emerging New Media-related classes: podcasting, streaming, film, and reel creation.
Priority Qualifications
- Experience teaching contemporary acting techniques and practices
- Professional experience as a camera/film actor, commercial and creative voiceover artist, social media influencer, podcaster, and producer/director of film/reels.
- Experience using software, equipment, and online platforms to edit text, audio, or video, and applying design principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in monitoring and analyzing performance data to understand audience preferences and determine what content is most effective.
- Experience collaborating with brands to support their online presence or running their own content business, which involves strategic planning, promotion, and potentially selling products or services.
- Experience teaching or interacting with new media entrepreneurship
- Experience in expanding artistic and academic practice to include global and historical traditions in curriculum design and pedagogy
