Role Summary
As the Social Media Manager for Saladelia and Mad Hatter, you’ll own the strategy, creation, execution, and reporting for our social channels. You’ll be the voice of our brand online, building community, telling our story, driving engagement, and supporting brand growth. This is an ideal role for someone passionate about hospitality, food culture, digital storytelling, and community building.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and execute a social media content calendar across all platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Google where relevant) for both Saladelia and Mad Hatter
- Create, edit and publish engaging content (photos, short-form video/Reels, graphics, stories) aligned with brand voice and business goals
- Collaborate with the in-house central kitchen executive chef, catering team, wholesale division and store leads to surface story angles (menu launches, behind-the-scenes, team spotlights, campus kiosk activations)
- Monitor community engagement: respond to comments/messages, nurture brand-community relationships, escalate customer feedback to store leadership or catering team as appropriate
- Monitor and report on key social media performance metrics (follower growth, engagement rate, reach, conversions) and provide actionable insights for improvement
- Stay on top of social media trends, platform algorithm changes, hospitality/food culture content tactics and apply innovative ideas to the brands
- Assist with occasional event coverage (in-store launches, campus kiosk events, catering pop-ups) by capturing content, posting live stories, and amplifying brand presence
- Ensure brand consistency (tone, visuals, messaging) across all digital channels, working with design/marketing as needed
- Support paid social or influencer/collaboration initiatives when needed (coordinate with marketing leadership)
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience managing social media for a brand/organization
- Proven portfolio of social media work (organic content, engagement growth, ideally short-form video content)
- Strong creative instincts: comfortable developing content ideas, filming/producing short videos, editing (tools like Canva, InShot, CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush or similar)
- Excellent written and visual storytelling skills, with strong attention to brand voice and detail
- Highly organized, capable of managing a content calendar and multiple channels, comfortable working autonomously with minimal supervision
- Good analytics mindset: ability to track social metrics and draw meaningful insights
- Flexibility in schedule: able to work up to 20 hours/week
- Local to Durham/Chapel Hill area (for in-person shoots/events)

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
